Status: offline 		I was sitting at lunch today in a very small, very bohemian little pseudo-Mexican ultra cheap and not so bad eatery having a beer.  The young girl (and in fact most of the staff there) is young, unpretentious, obviously unconcerned with material things and to some degree, physical things.  She is not societally acceptable with her many obvious piercings and tattoos, lack of makeup or willingness to succumb to the products and time (or waste there of) to make her look more culturally beautiful... mascara, long hair and the products needed to  maintain it, shiny, bright hued lips and clothes purchased more to sell her body than to clothe it.

Sitting alone amoung gregarious people sometimes sparks strange thoughts and this is what I was thinking of, and still am thinking of....

Who would I be if I were young, vigorous and unobligated?

I do not know that I can even fathom an answer.

Who would you be if you were young, vigorous and unobligated?

Anyone who has tattoos and piercings are VERY aware of their looks and sense of social acceptability.

It's the same amusement when you see a group of goths get together and talk about how dorky other people are because they follow the crowd- when the goths are all dressed the same and listen to the same music etc etc.

And anyone can go to gofugyourself.com and see just how often people get it really wrong when they try and fit into the trend.

Me.  I mean I suppose I have some obligations, but they are all things I chose for myself to have and can release anytime I want if I don't mind the consequences.

Im in much better shape now than I was 20 years ago.

I have more vigor, more endurance, more patience, than 20 years ago.

The major change is that my income has quadrupled and more than I was making back then.

Status: offline 		the truth- is i was.   in my 20s i kicked azz.  i had the looks- i used them. i had the brain, i 1/2 used it.

at 43, i traded my vanity for wisdom, and a  sense of peace.  the lesser restlessness and wisdom are certainly a big prize. unfortionately we glorify youth in this culture. 

youth is not by mistake.  we have the good looks to propagate teh species- something when we reach an older aage- we are programmed as an elder of the community. in tribal days- in some culture age iiis respected even reverred.

every day you see one more card.

in my 20s like many youth- i sowed my wild oats.  at 43, i feel the blatant pursuit of sex- sex as THE reason to live- is shallow and whorish.  my best freind that retired iis becomming whore of the century,  to myslef i think- come on. you have more class then that.

in teh end of lifes road- when your life flashes across your eyes- you dont think long on the nameless fkkks. you think of qulaity moments in the sun.

I do feel happier now in my life than ever, but remember times when I wished for something else.  Something different...

The "unobligated" part of the question is the most telling, I think.  You're younger than you think and only less vigorous (perhaps) than previously (however, likely to be more so than the average person your "age").

What is it you'd like to do differently?  Consider doing it, still.  At a certain point in life, you won't care as much about being societally acceptable as you will about not missing opportunities.

Go for it.

I think about this at times as I get older, and I have an answer, but we cannot go back in time and redo it. I would be the same person, but I would have started a lot earlier on the path I am on today. I am pretty happy with what I decided to do, just wish I had more years left to do it.

I think we've more simply accepted ourselves for who we are, and take personal responsibility for everything we choose to bring into our lives.

Your thought question was nice and intersting, and it can be fun to think "What if" questions.

Lord! You got that one right. When I was oh so much younger...I had the looks and the body of that guys from Cats....Mystof a something...the black cat that swings his hips at the females. And yes....had the movement as well. SHOOT! Look at me now. What a loss. :P There's my WHAT IF......even if I couldn't get any younger...what if I could get that body back? LOL! My slaves would definately be in trouble....in a good way. :D

Status: offline 		I would try to be less self-concious in general.  I've let lots of opportunities pass me by because I was afraid of looking stupid, or of being laughed at, or of being outed as a kinkster, or of failing.

How's the Mexican food up where you are, puella?  I just got some nachos at the local mexican place and they were soooo good!

Status: offline 		lol i worked really hard to get this body.......thought tellytubbies with boobs was coming into fashion......now i have it i find it very comfy, forget the slenderness of youth....be fat n proud lol.  Saying all that wouldn't mind the energy of someone 20 yrs younger!

Still vigourous and unobligated here ;-), although careering towards that mid 30s mark, so the youth is all but down the swanny.

I should have been travelling around the world between the ages of  23-29, and instead made a decision which I'll regret for years to come, so if the clock could be turned back I'd be off into the sunset with only a map and a few quid for company. The idea of having a crack at it still comes into my mind now and again. I would really have liked to have tried a different world, one without the insatiable desire for money and possessions. The idea of leaving it all behind still enters my mind from time to time, so there's always the chance that one day the pull will outweigh what's holding me back - a leopard never changes its spots etc.

Status: offline 		Geez...i DID try REALLY hard to be "proud" of myself and all that self acceptence stuff when i was fat but my mind and heart just werent buying it..... <in my opinion only> fat neither looks good nor is it healthy. having said that....i am commited to a man that could easily stand to lose 50 pounds + LOL...so am i shallow? no, i am not. am i proud of myself now?...YES, yes i am ...i worked hard to lose that wieght<no surgery, no diet pills>

Status: offline 		I'm way past young, I'm obligated but not as much as I was. When I was young I spent the best part of ten years travelling and living in other countries than my own. My biggest regret in life was giving it up and going to college for six years because after college I was not as head strong and reckless as I was before college and I felt the need of a safety net. I guess age had caught up with me. I still don't live in my own country and don't plan to and I still travel occasionally but flying or going by train or on a motorbike just doesn't seem the same as getting from A to B the best way you can. I loved spending evenings in strange towns in new (to me) countries. I met so many people and made so many friends in those ten years, many I still keep in touch with. I'd advise any young person who has a tenner to be reckless and travel with a rucksack on their back and fuck tomorrow and earning a living, that will come soon enough and its nothing to write home about. I'm dirt poor compared to my sister and brother but they haven't seen a fraction of what I have and never will now we are all middleaged.

Status: offline 		i thought it took courage i lacked in my 20s to be. i'm finding it takes even more courage now that i am somewhat established, and more to risk. still, i do not want to meet my own disappointment if another decade goes by and i am submerged in what if.
