gringuita -> paddles (4/19/2007 3:38:46 PM)

I have the notion that I would prefer paddles to the riding crop Daddy uses on me now.  I like the after effect of a spaking very much, bruises, tenderness the next day, and I'm wondering how big of a difference I would get with a paddle instead of a riding crop.

I don't like the sting of a riding crop, and it seems to me I don't hold up against it long enough to satisfy myself (after effects) or Daddy.

I'm wondering if in your experience there's more of a 'thud' than a 'sting' to paddles, how different the bruising is, and how much of a challenge the transition from crop to paddle is.

Thanks :)

I'm definitely a fan of the "thud" as opposed to the "sting"...just a personal preference.  there's lots of different kinds of paddles, it's a matter of finding one that you like.  different lengths, materials and shapes all produce different sensations.  I prefer a whack with a thicker and shorter paddle.  but that's just me.

I don't really bruise much anymore, and it's not really about transition, it's about a different sensation.

SimplyMichael -> RE: paddles (4/19/2007 3:55:12 PM)

That's why I make paddles in sets, one stingy and one thuddy.

shameless!

It also depends on what kind of riding crop it is - I have several.   Narrow, thin slappers....wide, large slappers in both rubber and leather...larger leather slappers that are reinforced and sewn so they are stiff....even a leather rose slapper!  Each will give different sensations along the thud <--> sting continuum.

Paddles can be stingy or thuddy or both. Crops can mark as well as paddles can. It's more about the force used and the material an implement is made of than what the implement is though there are exceptions. Just my experience on the receiving end <grin>.

Casie -> RE: paddles (4/19/2007 4:22:03 PM)

In my experince paddles have more of a thud than a crop. But like others have said it really depends on the material, the lenght, the force behind it and the angle it is hitting you just have to try things out til you find something you like.

Thank you for the opinions :) I'm looking forward to exploring paddles.

I've heard that ping-pong paddles are a good starter, not too heavy, easy to weild, does anyone have any experience with them, would that be a good way to get my thud?

gypsygrl -> RE: paddles (4/19/2007 5:21:20 PM)

Ping pong paddles?  You can get them for under 5$ at Walmart.  I consider them thuddy, very different from a crop which always felt tickly to me rather than stingy.

It took me a long time to learn to like spanking/paddling.  But, like any thing else, after a while of hating it, I started craving it.

littleone35 -> RE: paddles (4/19/2007 5:42:26 PM)

I have had experienc with pin pomg paddles On the reciecin end they hace a nice thud and don't hut too much (as least not how it we\was done to me).  If you want a really good thud that hurts try a small cutting board with a handle that thing can give a thud and a sting that was my late Master tool of choice when he was not using other things (shudders).

Why not try a bare hand that is what my Master uses now and it is also a thud and a sting. (smiles)

My Dom has used different kinds of paddles on me.  Some were thuddy.  Some were stingy.  Some were somehow both, I think?  I meant to ask him the how and why of it, but I forgot after the scene. He has this horse crop he uses on me from time to time.  I would rather take the horse crop than a stingy paddle.  I thought my ass was going to fall off when he used a stingy paddle on me.  Maybe because they cover more area than a stingy crop?  Hm, I don't know.  I'll have to remember to ask him about that one.

sillygirl09 -> RE: paddles (4/19/2007 6:33:42 PM)

Ping Pong paddles are a good starting point but remember anything can vary in pain depending on how it's delivered.  I've had many different types of paddles used on me and some I hated one time but loved another.  Like everyone else has said you'll need to experiment and play with some different ones.

LittleOne, thanks for the cutting board idea I never thought of that!

slavejali -> RE: paddles (4/19/2007 6:39:25 PM)

Master made paddles, he got this wood (dont ask me what kind, cuz im clueless) and stuck three layers together, they were very stingy and thuddy at the same time and left awesome bruises, fuck im glad the handles broke off.

The wider the area that contacts your skin, the "thuddier" it will. However, if they happen to swing it harder, it'll transfer a lot more energy, so the sensation will be deeper. Paddles with holes are easier to weld and are much more owie (be that good or bad) than solid paddles. Thicker paddles are harder to weld than thinner, but it can tranfer a lot more energy, so the bruising and marks will be deeper.

I swear, one of these day's I'm gonna do "The Physics of Kink".

Those wooden paint-stirrers they give out free are great "smacky-stingy" paddles.  I wouldn't call them "thuddy", but because they're light and thin, they make a really good sharp bite!  Especially the big ones that are for stirring 5-gallon buckets of paint.  They're good for warming up before you progress to a bigger "thuddy" paddle.

patrice3737 -> RE: paddles (4/21/2007 10:43:50 PM)

Ooooooh i am most afraid of the paddle! For me they hurt the worst, feels as if my bottom is on fire.

Hell my personal preference is the hand.  Hands down.

Elegant -> RE: paddles (4/22/2007 6:27:09 AM)

Most people tend to categorize impact toys into two 'feels', thudy and stingy. I add a third sensation: slappy. Hand are slappy and not something I am fond of except across the face. Many paddles and straps are slappy and I cringe when Master brings those out. Canes are stingy and I have a love/hate relationship with them. Thudy is the impact of his fist, the pound of an escrima stick, the force of a braided flogger.

Whatever the implement and whatever the feel, the key for me is the processing time between each impact.
