ModThree has been having a lot of health problems recently. Last week she almost died when her liver failed. She was rushed to the hospital and then transfered to another hospital 4 hours away. Her husband took this opportunity to break up with her and burn her stuff. They are discharging her from the hospital today and she needs to be able to get to her mothers house but she has no way to get there. Her parents are too old to drive 4 and she has nothing at all with her. I am asking for her if there is anyone near little rock who is possibly able to take a 4 hour drive to help her get somewhere safe where she can spend the night. Otherwise she will be totally stranded in not the greatest of neighborhoods alone and with some serious health problems. Not in Ark. However, most hospitals will not release you until you have someone to claim you. Not sure if that is the case back there or not.

Anyway, can we send her a bus ticket? Let us know.

She can leave the hospital whenever she wishes, they can't force her to stay unless they declare her mentally impaired.

Social Services at the hospital might be able to arrange for a limo transfer from the hospital. It might be pricey though.

I have not heard from her in a few hours. Last I heard there was a van that she might be able to catch to take her to the county line, and there she was going to try and see if she can get someone to pick her up. I hope she will call me and let me know if that is going to work out. I will keep you guys posted.

She would qualify for safe haven at a Domestic Abuse Shelter for Women, I believe. Has this been considered or explored? They would also assist her with medical needs, and transportation to her family (if she would be safe there). Realistic counseling is also available. This isn't just a "bad" experience. This is a life altering experience that occured during another life altering experience. Liver failure isn't a "small" thing! I believe realistic mental/emotional address is in order here as well. "Things" can be replaced. Making sure she is safe and getting necessary care is most important at this point.


If there is anything I can do, other than the "ride", please don't hesitate to let me know. My thoughts and prayers are with her.

I just got off the phone with her this second. She arrived at her mothers house at 3am this morning and will be able to stay there for a few days. If I speak to her again I will ask her to post here. Thank you everyone for your concern.

First, thank you to those that were concerned. I am with my parents on a temp basis. Since I was in the hospital for some time I no longer have a job. My parents cannot afford to support me so I am doing what I can to make it, the meds are difficult on the body to say the least. And I assure you, the rumor that death by liver failure is the worst way to go... is true. They had thought they would be able to operate and remove any damaged portions, but it had spread through my entire liver. So that option failed me. All I can do now is hope the meds do thier job and everything about my life has pretty much changed, that's just aside from the husband decideing to burn all that I did have.

So I was sick, now homeless & broke.. with an overdrawn bank account.

I was thinking the exact same thing, but didn't want to sound like I can give a lot given I'm hardly well to do financially.
