Sinergy,

I have that same saying on a couple shirts, a bumpersticker and a little plaque!

Sweet!

But do your underlings regularly insult you?

the perfect thing to post to someone that is very much depressed...a depressing poem...typical

He wrote that poem to his father to tell him to not sink into despair and depression.

I think it is the perfect poem to tell somebody who is depressed.  The only person who
can move a depressed person in a direction is the person themself.  Telling said
individual to get off their keister and rage against the dying of the light makes perfect
sense to me.

LOL

When I actually had underlings they might attempt it once. However the "Look of Death" was all that was needed to disuade them from attempting it ever again.

At a previous employer I was known (behind my back) as The Exterminator, The Sweeper, etc. because I would go in and do evaluations and fire people. No one dared to insult me since they weren't ever quite sure until the meetings end whether or not they still had a job.

Ahh It's good to be The Queen.

My boss has The Look.

But normally she just kicks me as hard as she can in the groin or the head.

Hell I do that and I don't have to get insulted to do so.

You know, depression is on the lowest end of the emotional scale. In other words, any other emotion that you can dream up is better than depression. Depression is just hopelessness, seeing no way it will ever be better, the loss of even the energy to experience anger. It is apathy against even life. At least with rage one is not apathetic. Mind you, rage is not a feel good happy place, but it is better to feel that than depression in my estimation... I once heard this and I believe it is partially true (not for everyone, but for many) depression is anger turned inward... the more hopeless the depression, the scarier the anger

Yes.  What is the equation if the universe is removed from the formula?

42 - universe = life and everything.

No way to remove one aspect from one side of an equal sign without removing it from the other side as well.

Everyone has their story Michael. Believe me, everyone has their story. It does not matter what the story is, it matters what is going on inside. The content of the story that got you where you are may differ from my own in more horrific ways, but the emotional and chemical soup that is depression does not change. It is a physical as well as an emotional ailment... so the content of the story may differ.. but the choice is still the same, take action to change it or don't... Yoda said  "Do or not... there is no try". At the end of the day that is all there is. Willingness to do... or not. I chose to do, and while it was not an easy road, I am not depressed and I am not apathetic.

Ironic, really, that our resident downer should show up on this thread and show us that the meaning of life is to be anything but him.

Are you there, God?  Kudos, little guy!

Sinergy, you beat me to to it! Any significance to 42's being Jackie Robinson's number, you think?

I always thought the meaning of life was to love and be loved. So, does that mean if you have not found someone to love your life has no meaning? I wonder.....

Well I would suggest that you just have not yet MET him/her... but you must know that they will prove to be well worth the wait.

This is MY perspective anyways.

Sorta back on topic (I did say "sorta" ):
I have read about 'near death' experiences. Generally the stories of persons pronounced dead due to heart stoppage, but where resuscitation efforts continued anyways, and succeeded eventually in reviving them.

Their subsequent recollections regarding their experience 'while dead' were strikingly similar, irrespective of culture creed or any other mundane/'real-life' particulars.

The general conviction of such revived ones was that THE MOST IMPORTANT thing in this life is TO LOVE... with the second most important being TO LEARN.
