I never agreed with pulling prayer out of schools. I believe if a kid wants to pray, they have that right. The principle of the school here tried to get my son kicked out of school when we first moved here when she caught him saying grace at lunch. He was quiet about it, and continued, finished his lunch. After school, he went to the school board and logged a complain against the teacher. School board didn't like it, so he ended up taking the entire board to court because he felt he was in his right.

My son won his case in court. The next day before school started, he stood out on the front lawn of the school by a huge rock and started praying. Everyone in town had heard about his court case. What suprised everyone was, as he stood there praying...hundreds of other kids joined him. And they continued this every day and here it is almost 10 years later....there are about 5 different areas at the school kids convine before school, each area having different religions..all kids praying. The majority of the kids now pray at lunch as well. One unexpected thing....the violence in the school dropped by about 20 percent since then. Yea, we still have the occassional trouble maker, but nowhere near as bad as before.

If there was ever a vote to bring prayer back...i'd be first in line.

Yes. You are probably right there. Score a point for you. :) I was a bit loose with the term Christian, but the point I was making still stands.

Thanks.

A couple of people have mentioned "seperation of church and state". I wonder how people confuse a letter, written by Thomas Jefferson to one of his friends with the supreme law of the land?

Speaking of Jefferson... that brought to mind one of my favorite quotes by him.

“Question with boldness even the existence of God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear.”

Whether it is "god forsaken" or not, I don't know. I just saw the spectacular desert country between Las Vegas and the Canyon, and I see from time to time the temperatures at Phoenix and Tucson. I have met a family for Phoenix, and they reckon it is "God's own country".
I think we will leave this now, unless you want to carry on. I was serious about coming to AZ, by the way. I will be in AZ but have no reason to visit the cities, unfortunately.

Definitely drop Me a line on the other side.  Let Me know when you plan to visit the Canyon, and I will see if I can get up there for a day trip and a cup of coffee.  Maybe even lunch!  *Smile*  I don't mind the drive!
