fastreply. they don't aid college students on the basis that college dorms and apts aren't our permanent residences? that's such a bullshit premise. i live here year round; i don't have family i can stay with, really, ever, except for an aunt maybe, and i don't have a "home" to go to - this IS my home. it IS my permanent residence. it also happens to be an apartment that's practically on campus and only leases to students. the idea that all students must have mommy and daddy to go back to, and that it's right to deny people aid on the basis of what part of the population does, upsets me. what about people for whom that university WAS their home? if a terrible storm hit the area where i live (which is entirely possible, considering i live in florida and it happens here often), i would be livid if i were denied aid on the basis of the fact that most of my friends have parents and a house somewhere else.
