"That's a shame." "How old was she?" "Who gets the house?" "Wow, I hadn't talked to her in a while, I wish I'd called." "I think she mentioned that she wanted to be cremated." "I heard she wanted to be turned into a diamond." "She was an organ donor right? What did they take?" Actually, I have no idea. But I went to one funeral that I thought was really sad because it was obvious that the family's choices had been severely limited by finances. The entire funeral was outside. There was no interment afterwards, and I'm actually not sure what they did with the body. The [what do you call the funeral program thing? The obituary is what would be printed in the newspaper....] was very short. It didn't list much besides her family, when/where she was born, when she died, and what she did for a living. It made me think that I wanted to make sure that I had a plan (and money set aside) for my on funeral.
