charismagirrl -> Baseball for dummies and other things to please... (4/27/2007 4:23:33 PM)

i hope that i'm not posting this is the wrong area (i've only started one other thread sooo ), if not please move it to where it needs to be.

i've been thinking of ways that i can be more pleasing and share more with my Daddy/Master so i have decided to try to learn about baseball...not to play it mind you because i am sooo not the athletic type but just so that i can watch it with him and understand what is going on. i know it seems like such a basic sport but after attempting to watch last season i realized that there is way more to it than i first thought.

So i am trying to find a good book to help me learn, Baseball for Dummies is about ppl that can already play and there is one book coming out that two women wrote but it isn't out yet.

Sooo my first question is does anyone know of any good books that can teach me the basics? And my other question is what have others learned/about to please your "M"/"D"?

(my Daddy also mentioned a day long golf lesson for brand new players...YIKES!)

lol i am a sports fanatic and know about both sports.  i think if you are interested i could send you the basic rules on how to understand baseball  just let me know on the other side.  Playing golf is hard.  Takes alot of dedication but you could mention starting out at the driving range where you only hit the golf ball as far as you can.

Thanks bunches and i will message you on the other side....i do know some basic rules but then there is so much other stuff, like when the announcer is talking it ends up sounding like gibberish to me.

Golf, OMG yeah, i did go to the range once with my Daddy and my UM so that the two of them could hit some balls and when i tried it was less than pretty LOL...

Any help would be welcome

Thx

Well my Master is a big Jets fan (you know the football team).  It is a good thing that i love and understand football (baseball too).  We can talk about it.

As to please Master i learned how to play spider solatire and things like how he likes his coffee and  his fav desserts.

OOSH lol football is another one that alludes me...my Daddy tried to explain it to me last fall but the way he explains it confuses me even more.

God bless both of you that have posted so far about this for knowing about sports...i totally need to learn some of this stuff.

Well a few searches on yahoo could pull up the basics, but I say watch some games- on TV, at big stadiums, and your local schools.

And be ok with yourself if you find it's really not something you dig.

charismagirrl -> RE: Baseball for dummies and other things to please... (4/27/2007 5:43:28 PM)

LA lol i have done some of those things..used to watch my brother as a kid, well half watched him and half watched the hot umpire dude (lol) and my Daddy and i got to go see the Mets play last season and that's when i realized i knew absolutely nothing really about baseball.

i really want to try to atleast get to the point where i can understand it enough to find it marginally enjoyable since it's something the my Daddy absolutely loves.

minnetar thanks so much for you helpo and for not making me feel like a total bonehead....this is a really big thing for me to learn since it's so big for my Daddy...kind of along the lines of learning to cook his food the way he likes it and making him keylime pie and cakes (now that's where i'm comfy)...But it's really submitting when i do something that i otherwise wouldn't give a rats ass about if it weren't to hopefully please him....Doing the stuff i love to do like baking is alittle more selfish.

Thanks to all so far.

Cherry,
i just sent the football rules.  If you have questions on either, let me know.  i learned sports in order to get close to my father when i was a child.  He was a doctor and busy with housecalls, the hospital and office visits.  i know you would love to please your Master and i love sports so am more than happy to help.  Many watch it and get lost.  my family (parents)  are a bunch of golf addicts too so i know that too lol.

my other question is what have others learned/about to please your "M"/"D"?

NLF football.  Over the years, i have watched high school, college, and NFL games but never did quite understand it that much.  Frankly, i didn't really care enough about it to take time to learn about it. Master loves the game and understands more about it than many, i would venture to guess.  i wanted to be able to watch it and discuss it with Him intelligently so i began researching it on my own.  "Football For Dummies" was indeed my first stop and i found it very helpful.  i read through some other books and on the 'net and just watched it, trying to solidify what i had learned.  He was very pleased with my initiative in this matter.  (As a matter of fact, i made a point to bring up the newest issue of SI's "mock draft" last night and He really enjoyed the conversation[8D]).  i still have much to learn but i look forward to it now that i know enough to not be totally clueless when W/we watch a game.

On a side note (perhaps this could be a thread of it's own), i'd like to mention something that Master is learning about that pleases me.  NASCAR.  Though He is a Southern Man, born and bred, He has never been a fan [:o].  He knows how much i enjoy stock car racing and that i really do know alot about the sport.  He mentioned that He would like to know more about it Himself.  So, i have suggested some books to Him and when W/we can, W/we watch races and He asks questions.  Listening to the questions He asks makes me see it through "new eyes" so to speak ("why" do they do this and "why" do they do that).  Plus, if there's something i can't answer, it prompts me to go find out for Him.  It has been very fun for both of U/us to learn about each others' favorite sports (even though at first, He contended NASCAR wasn't a "sport."  Heretic!  If He had been anyone but Master - well, you can imagine [;)]).........slave luci

My husband took me to my very first Major league baseball game, and it was so romantic. =) Is your man willing to explain the game to you while you're both watching? He might just get tickled pink at being all sportly with you like that, lol

charismagirrl -> RE: Baseball for dummies and other things to please... (4/28/2007 12:40:13 PM)

Not sure if you were talking to me Stella or not but...i did actually go to a Mets game lat season in Fl...we had seats in one of those special rooms given to us by someone that worked for the Mets (long story) but....When we went, my Daddy was trying his best to explain it to me but he was confusing me in alot of ways, talking past the basics and trying to explain as things happened. i think it's kind of hard to talk about it during because it all happens so fast...Oooooo that gives me an idea, i'll record some games and rewatch them so i can rewind and fast forward....

Daddy also tried it with football and i  though my brain was going to melt....lol...so it was so hard for me to retain almost anything he was telling me.

i am going to get this done thouh, for sure! Who says i'm stubborn...lol...i'm just determined :)

i read the sportswriters' write-ups on immediately past games to keep current with things like pitcher rotation, injuries and other factors that affect team performance.  i may not "get" everything as it happens during the game but if the topic comes up in conversation, i can ask an intelligent question.

i think your efforts to understand and involve yourself in your Master's interests are commendable.

charismagirrl -> RE: Baseball for dummies and other things to please... (4/28/2007 3:22:46 PM)

sweetlady... thank you and  i think this is a great idea about watching the stuff afterwards. i think this is maybe like if i were to watch Sports Center? (my Daddy watches that one ALOT)...i do know some names and stuff and my UM was baffled when i started asking about baseball and trying to get clarification. LOL

i am actually going to start a different thread that will be a combo of this one and the one i started in the general BDSM discussion area about a site i just started building yesterday.
As i was sitting here attempting to understand the Yankee game LOL...it came to me...

What can you do well that you could instruct another "s" about so that they might be more pleasing to their M or D?

Thanks for all of the advice especially minnetar

minnetar -> RE: Baseball for dummies and other things to please... (4/28/2007 3:27:07 PM)

psst Cherry - surprise your Master - tell Him you heard that if the Yankees are swept against Boston (lose every game against them) that the coach Joe Torre will be gone.  Hope that impresses Him lol.

Giggling.... That might impress him. Too bad the Mets aren't playing today. Dirt on them would do wonders lol.(they're his favorite)

Thank you girl, you rock!
