Lucidian -> My Master is a Masochist? (4/27/2007 8:45:03 PM)

I have an interesting question.

Are there any Masters here, who are also Masochists?

Raphael -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/27/2007 9:46:47 PM)

I'm sure there are. I'm a dominant sadomasochist, much heavier on the sado side than the maso, but there's a dash of that too. I'm sure there are some that are much heavier on the maso side. Why is that particularly interesting?

He is similar...heavily sadistic but has His masochistic tendencies.

Well, not me, but it's certainly not unheard of.  A good friend of mine is by all appearances VERY dom but loves to be tied up and have his wobbly bits tortured.  However he does admit to being switch.  In his relationships, however, there is not much doubt who is running the show.

Midori has a class she teaches called Beyond Twisted, where she explains that dominance, sadomasochism, and sexual preferences really have nothing to do with each other, and can vary by mood or the reflections of a partner.  Do take it if you ever have a chance.  In fact, take any class she teaches, if you ever have a chance.

Right here, I'm a Masochist Dom.

junecleaver -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/28/2007 8:37:41 AM)

I think my Dominant has masochistic tendencies, probably more so than me.  He's been flogged and done cupping.  He enjoyed them very much.  In fact, he taught me the basics of flogging by letting me practice on him which felt really weird at first.

tade -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/28/2007 10:17:53 AM)

I enjoy a little pain now and again. Not flogging or things of that nature and nothing with a submisive twist, just pain for pain's sake. I'll pull a hang nail really slow, or hold my hand above a candle flame. I think it's just the sadist in me though, If there is no one else to hurt then I'll hurt myself until something better comes along... ;)

I am sure that you would find quite a few both here on the boards and in real life who identify as masochists. [:)]

I don't see how the dom can much be on the receiving end, I was under the assumption that masochism relates more to submission, for you are surrendering control or baring your ass (or whatever)to the giver of pain. I do like to be bitten in return while sexually engaged, haven't thought of it as masochism so much as animal responses...interesting topic......to each their own tastes lol

Just because a person enjoys pain does not mean that they have to submit to someone to be a lover of pain. Think about it for a second.

What?  Maso has to do with enjoying varies types of pain.  It doesn't have anything to do with being dom or sub.

trinity46 -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/28/2007 12:42:53 PM)

Interesting question.  I started in this lifestyle as a submissive, because I thought that's what I "should" be, and I definitely learned to enjoy receiving pain and processing it, so that reenforced my belief that I was a submissive.  I was very naive.  However, giving up control was never easy for me (translated to impossible).  So, when that wasn't working for me, my husband (my then dominant) suggsted that I didn't have a submissive bone in my body, and eventually, I came to understand that, and have since developed my dominant skills and am much happier for it.

However, that didn't change the fact that I am still masochistic.  So,  I indulge my masochistic desires by occasionally bottoming to a good friend under the guise of testing a new flogger.  And then there are my weekly visits to my accupuncturist, who also happens to be a sadistic friend of mine, and that also keeps my issues with my back under control.

The short version: yes Dominants can be Masochists :-)

degradess -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/28/2007 12:48:03 PM)

  A freind of mine I play with started out as my dom and now wants to be more switch.  I am intrigued to see how I will like being the dom as I have  dom side myself.  He also wants to be a cross dresser, something I have always liked too.  The next visit there should be lots of fun..  It will take time to get used domming him , but I am sure it will be fun..  He makes it fun do to anything, with both of us having open minds on many things.

A question then. If being masochistic is just liking various degrees of pain, and not related to dom/sub, then why so much connection between the d/s and bdsm? I've hardly seen any doms that much appear to enjoy being on the receiving end, and there's quite the active lifestyle community here lol. Just wondering.....

theres a huge connection because S&M allows them a chance to enjoy the pain that comes with being masochistic.

Being sadistic or masochistic has NOTHING to do with being Dominant or submissive.

I've found it to be a very common misconception. If you actually think about it, though, it makes no sense at all. Control and pain are entirely different things. As another poster pointed out recently in another thread, athletes are generally, probably universally, masochistic. Does that mean athletes are always submissive? Hardly.

If you enjoy being bitten you have a little maso streak. Most people do, even if they cant admit it.

WhiplashSmile -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/28/2007 1:54:09 PM)

I wanting to know what a TENS UNIT feels like, for a new charge out of life.  Hell, somebody hookme up please! LOL...   Might have to fight with a submissive over who's turn it is first.  Oh wait, my turn first because I said so! LOL..

N4SDChastity -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/28/2007 2:53:48 PM)

I would venture that there is a little bit of the Masochist in ALL of us, Dom/me or sub, Top or bottom.

Whplash, what's keeping you from hooking yourSELF up and crankin tha knob all the way over?  Aside from good judgement and common sense, that is?

Lucidian -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/28/2007 6:55:16 PM)

I was interested in seeing the reaction of you people.

Lucidian -> RE: My Master is a Masochist? (4/28/2007 6:59:54 PM)

Whiplashsmile,

How do you get what you want?

(I think that "topping from the bottom" is artificial & pointless)

But, I want to know your opinion about it.
