Personally I think this is a publicity stunt, but I did find the story amusing. I was just reading the news here and came upon it. I am sure this will start an interesting thread to say the least. So.....comments?

I don't know if it's real or not, but I have already seen one profile from a sub in the UK who has her ticket to China and has changed her name, legally I think, for the town.

Something interesting to note whilst viewing the article:

Look at all the adverts around it...they are all for "odd" or "weird" stories.

It makes Me sad...

Sounds pretty cool but China? No.

I remember years ago seeing a small town for sale or it was an area that needed some work to become a town. I had great fantasies.

I think it would get boring very quickly. Plus there is the fact that I have no desire to dominate anyone but our boy(s). To have others obeying me without question would make me feel uneasy.

When *I* go to the url...Along the middle to bottom left hand side of the page - there is an ad for the "underground" (says something about being weird) and then two links to offbeat news and offbeat digest. That is what I was writing about. I'm sure they are different for everyone, that is what I saw when I went to the url both times.
What I was trying to say is that an idea like this (whether or not it has pros and cons) resonates with BDSM and it's being associated on a news site with things that are "offbeat" and "weird". THAT is what makes Me sad.
Edited to add... down at the bottom there is "more ODD news" etc. Perhaps I am not familiar enough with Yahoo news. I usually view CNN's news.

I see this in a very different light than other responses here:

In the five months that I lived in China, about 20 years ago, the birthrate was approximately 1200 male children to 1 female, because the female children were put to death at birth. Surprise, this was back in the early 90's, not hundreds of years ago.

Today, there are over a thousand Chinese young adult males age 15 to about 25, for every Chinese woman available.

You are going to see every sort of kidnapping, prostitution, and slavery imaginable in China for decades to come, as a result.

Ergo, this is but one of the many public outlets to come in which Chinese men will be able to live out their fantasies. No doubt the financiers will capitalize on the phenomenon by drawing men from all over the world, as well.

The place is in the same province as a once little known matriarchal culture, whose lifestyle become a tourist atraction when this fem led provincial part of China made world news. I caught a follow up story a few months ago and while generally the consensus was the local people are bemused by the tourists, mostly young men, who have flocked there, they tend to go about their life as they always have. Hopefully this development won't change that for them as there is nothing in that article that seemed remotely close to their way of life.

However, if you've got a captive audience of men gravitating to a place hoping women will pick them and have her wicked way with them, discarding them like tomorrow's chip wrapper ..is to make a tourist attraction for women as much as men. ;)

Althought the source is strange, this is pretty much why this being in China doesn't seem right...

There ya go. This can't be authentic because, you know, it's all still run by men.

And beyond that, I can't help but be reminded of the marginalizing of Mosuo culture that the West and Chinese have been pushing for some time now. I've the sneaking suspicion there's some kind of connection.

You'd never find me in such a place. I don't understand the desire to obey strange women I've never met. I'm the sort of submissive who believes that his gift is special enough that he doesn't give it to every woman who barks orders at him. And no, I don't believe I'm special; I just believe that there's only one woman that's that special to me. But perhaps that's just me...to each his own...

i think this is a great idea. Minneapolis should have a zone like this. It's good for Women and good for men. The younger men are where they are trained to be obedient to Women, the better the world will be.
