Sure, we love our felines, but they're also insane, are they not? At least mine are, especially in the spring when the birds take over.

How about your cat(s)? What crazy things do they do?

Charley is weird, some days he is more than others though.  He "plays" w/ the squirrels while sitting on the window sill, the past few months... he got revenge (or played too rough) we found dead squirrels in the yard, side of house and next to car .

Here's a couple of cats who are a bit more talented/stranger than him, lol.

Nora the piano playing kitty.

Spank the kitty.

Sorry, didn't intend to hijack your post.

My cat actually growls at strangers who come into her house, lol.  This morning, I got home at 6:00 AM, and she decided noone should be up at that hour...as I unlocked the door, I heard growling coming from the other side, and she was looking at me as though I'd sprouted a third head or something.  The other really odd thing about her is that she was scared to death of the English Budgie I had, yet when my brother's girlfriend brought her fully grown golden retriever into the house a few years ago, the cat promptly woke up, tore out to the living room and attacked the dog until it ran back outside, lol.  She also does this thing where she sits in the window and 'charms' the birds...she makes this cute little chirping sort of meow at them, and the closer they venture toward the window, the louder she does it...does anyone else's cat do that, too?

-Einzelgänger

Edit: actually, that was yesterday morning, although it really doesn't make any difference.

She doesn't do the "I want the bird meow" as much lately, come to think of it...then again, she turned 18 in October, so I guess she doesn't really have to act cute anymore, lol.

We have 3 cats and the dynamics are truly fascinating to watch.  The smallest of the three is the boss of the largest, the medium is the smallest's boss, and the largest is the medium's boss.  The three of them together can really be entertaining.

I had a cat that did that once......sounded like she was "talking" drove me crazy.
The cat i have now is a huge siamese/himalayan and weighs in at a whopping 30lbs. He thinks he is the "Himself" of the house and doesnt take kindly to other males of any species. He too loses his mind most of the time and runs through the apt for no reason jumps really high into the air *well as high as a 30lb cat can jump* and is a generally a fish watcher *we have a beta that lives on the counter* Yes my Sho-Gun is a sight to behold......and a pain in the arse to brush!

We have two cats in our household. I am owned by Momma Kitty, a beautiful tabby and Master Darkmoon is the owner of Kinky, a pretty little calico who is Momma Kitty's daughter. Before she was neutered, Kinky qualified us for the Jerry Springer show by being a lesbian-nympho-maschochistic cat. She would "service" her mother when Momma was in heat, every chance she could. She also like to be spanked when *she* was in heat. I am talking *hard* with a plastic coat hanger until your arm was tired and come back for more. She also likes all kinds of human food including French Onion Sun Chips (will eat the whole chip) Asiago cheese bagles from Panera, and Garlic and Herb tuna fish (I really didn't think she would like it because it's so strong) She *won't* eat raw meat or pieces of fish when we have fish fillets (like Gortons). *Weird* little cat.

Wow! i would love to see a picture of that cat... i adore big fluffy kitties Our 14-pound Birman (not unlike a Himalayan, but with a "pointy" face) is a pretty substantial cat... i can only imagine a 30-pound Himalayan mix!

i think all cats are nuts, by human standards. Birds being something of a natural prey for cats, the bird-watching actually makes a lot of sense to me. On the other hand, of our cats...
One sleeps approximately 20 hours a day (she's only 5), and the only time she ever talks is when she wants me to pick her up. She's completely docile, except when it comes to tiny fur mousie toys, and styrofoam peanuts. Those, she'll tear into like a bobcat.
One is obsessed with paper clips, rubber bands, Christmas ornament hangers, and twist-ties, and relentlessly hunts them down from God-only-knows-where. He knows the drawers they're kept in, and if i leave them open the slightest bit, he will paw them open the rest of the way and go to town. He also gnaws on the doorstops... i think he may be part rodent.
One sees spirits. He sometimes stares fixatedly at places in the room where there's nothing at all, and will seem to follow things around the house, talking to them (and i've checked... they're not insects)
One does nothing unusual that i've noticed, but spends most of the day hiding (it's a little sad... he acts like he was abused by his previous owner, and all the other cats push him around). He's a big sweetie, but very shy.

The cat runs through the house, taking corners at alarming speed and leaping into the bathtub when anyone goes potty.  Also lays in the sink in the dark, scaring the beejeebies out of unsuspecting humans going potty in the middle of the night.

Once as I was getting ready to take a shower, I pulled back the shower curtains to turn the water on and got a surprise, cat was all curled up on top of the drain, think I startled it too.

His best friend is the lil black kitten next door, they meet at either yard under the trees and play for hours.  Sometimes the lil black kitten can be found on our outside window stoop "meowing" for his friend to come out to play.

I have a cat that is almost 5 years old and still chases it's own tail  In addition to that, for some reason, she really likes my daughters eyes. She will climb into bed with her at night and lick her eyes; my daughter finds it quite disgusting.

Let's just say that letting the wolf raise the kitten turned out to not be such a great idea.  We sat for my Dad's Lab and Hound one weekend and she punked them at their food dishes.

    She's just not right...

Let me see:

Shasta is gay and has his own stash of catnip that we can't find - damn thing is always trying to hump his brother when he is high.
Jackson is a male subbie - just loves to have his butt beat - the harded the better.
FussButt is just neurotic - (grandson says he is our nauses - or how ever the hell it is spelled- kitty)  has 7 toes in front and 6 in back.  If it is different, it is something he likes.

I don't know if this qualifies as nuts:

My little Daisy likes it alot if I'm hovering over her while she eats. It might be because she was very tiny when I found her in the alley, and her first safe meal may have been the one she got the night I took her in. For that one, I crouched over her, cooing and petting her while she ate. Anyway, four years later, she comes and gets me several times a day and has me follow her to the food bowl so I can pet her and say sweet things to her while she eats...and purrs VERY loudly. It's really important to her, I guess. I like it, too.

And speaking of Daisy: I'm sure everyone is eagerly anticipating our annual Daisy Day celebration! Hopefully, Gauge will go easy on the catnip this time and actually remember what he does and with whom he does it. Mark your calendar (I know many of you already have) and start getting ready for July 27th!!!

Bob
