(My apologies to MLK)

I had a weird dream last night.

I dreamt that I was in this room with a pet, but it wasn’t a veterinarian’s office. There was this woman there as well. We got to talking and one thing led to another and we had sex (remember, this is a dream!)

Then, suddenly she was trying to kill me. I managed to get away from her and hid in another room (I now found that I was in a house with many rooms).

I was trying to think of a way I could escape when it occurred to me that I could call the police (which I did). Once I saw the police cars drive up, I thought that all I would have to do is surrender to them.

Just before putting my plan into action, I decided to take one last look out the window. What did I find? She was one of the police officers! What was I to do now?

I started thinking again and came up with the idea that if I could make my way to the back of the house I could surrender to one of the other officers.

For some reason, I also thought that I should take off all of my clothes and leave them in a pile in the room I was leaving as this would confuse the police long enough for me to carry out my plan (remember, I did say that this was a dream, right? Maybe I should say it was a nightmare!)

So now I am naked and sneaking out the back door and suddenly there she is! Except now she doesn’t have a gun, she has a sword!

I begin to run around the house to get away from her (all of the other police seem to have vanished now). I find that I have an umbrella in my hand. The thought enters my head that I can ambush her with the umbrella and get her before she can get me (by using the element of surprise).

So after running around one corner of the house, I stop and wait for her. Sure enough, she comes running around the corner and I bat her sword away (so that I am not impaled) and stab at her with the umbrella.

Then I woke up.

OK now, I didn’t tell you this so you can psychoanalyze me. Instead, now that I have told you my weird dream, how about if you tell me yours?

This is so frustrating.. I literally just woke up, still laying in bed on the laptop, unable to think of the dreams I just had! The best I can remember are general story lines and oddities.. like, when I was little, my dreams used to seem like lifetimes and I'd wake up in the real world after dying on my death bed, often teary eyed from the collective sarrows of that life, such as loved ones dying before me and now saying goodbye to those still living. If not for my disbelief in such things, I'd have thought that they were past lives, mostly due to scope and intensity. Oh! And a funny common theme to many of my dreams is that I can fly- sort of. I swim through the air in a doggie-paddle motion that's typically pretty draining.
