An idea from another thread - 5/1/2007 5:38:28 AM

There have been a couple of threads on the Ask A Mistress board that brought Me to this thought, but this was the more appropriate place to ask My question.

Recently, there have been a couple of discussions on what a Mistress might want to see from a sub.  What skills We would like to see mentioned, etc.  Very good discussion, yet it occurred to Me that is the sub/slave didn't see the answers, they wouldn't really know what a Dom/me in particular is looking for, and would have no better idea of what to say when contacting One they might wish to serve.

So, My question is this......  As a sub/slave, have you ever gone back to see some of what a Dom/me has posted to see where there are things you might have in common?  Have you taken the trouble to go past just looking at their profile to see what kind of person they are?  Do you have certain Dom/me's that you follow what they say on different subjects to get to cyber-know them better?  Do you think the time investment of doing such things might be worthwhile?  Would an idea like this be more valuable to male subs rather than females, if males feel they are less sought after?

Thanks in advance for the imput.

I won't sue you for not being a male subbie, but they sure seem in short supply with answers this morning.   Hmmmmm.

Am also not a male sub, but yes when i was looking i checked profiles, forum posts, what the Dominant had listed as interests, etc both when replying to an email that person may have sent me or prior to initiating contact by sending that person an email. i do think it would help make more meaningful contacts if someone puts in the effort to see if there is any level of compatiblity; i also think that most won't do it.

heartfelt.... Beautiful name, btw.

I do happen to agree with you, though it makes Me wonder how many of those that get discouraged when not finding One to serve have ever thought of the tactic.

I've been stalked in such a manner.

My prior posts read, googling my screenname to see what other dirt could be brought to the surface.

THEN, the email.

The nerve!

I gotta admit, there's on North Carolinian Domme I kinda keep underfoot of to see what makes her tick.

Short answer: A lot.

Most of the Dommes that i have contacted on the other side don't actually do much in the way of posting here.  In fact i can't think of any that i have seen posts from.  But if i can "reverse engineer" your thought, there are a lot of the ladies on this side that i do read their posts and will be intrigued (sometimes good sometimes bad) and will look up their profile to find out more about them.  But i do like finding out all i can about the ones i write to, so i do read their complete profile, sometimes several times before writing.  And for me, the very reason FOR writing is because i see a possibility and want to find out more.  And yes, when i see that a Domme that has my interest has written to a number of different post themes i do usually look to see what she had to say.

to politely answer your questions, i don't stalk any particular dom on the forums, his forum posts and/or how he responds. if the subject interests me then i might lurk, read or reply.  if anyone cares to "cyber" know me better, reading my replies will not give you a complete detailed picture because you might not like the way my opinionated mind works. messaging me in private will garner you some in sight of who and the type of person i am.

Lord, I run my mouth a lot. Someone has a lot of reading to do. LOL

As you know, I am one sub who does read the posts of Mistresses with a great deal of interest. I do so to learn and try to understand all types of people, but when I like someones posts, I do try and read their future posts with more interest. This is because a number of posts have sparked a common interest or I like their humour, maybe both. Either way, I would suggest you are correct and subs should read these posts, it would help a lot I would imagine.

i was always taught to "put yourself in the O/other person's shoes" so sympathy if not empathy is greatly valued, i feel.
i read lots of postings and questions by Dom/mes, SwItChEs, and subs so i can learn how my Mate tics, and just to understand the scene, as it is a whole of its' sums.
someday i hope a Domme will find Her way into our life, and as with my Mate, i'd feel the need to give Her the same emotional availability i give Him. sometimes this is difficult, in a relationship communication is a wonderous thing and yet my Mate has a special embrace for me "because you understand Me" .
so, yes, i read the replies of Dom/mes : )        Phoenix

Thanks to all who have been chiming in so far.  Actually, one of the thoughts that never occurred to Me was that this would be considered 'stalking'.  I thought of it more of an idea to go back and see how a Dom/me would think on certain issues.  Since there are so many different facets of the lifestyle and a variety of different answers to different questions, I was thinking more along the lines of possibly the scenerio of "There's a match with a Dom/me on My way of thinking.  I wonder if there might be more that W/we have in common".  Maybe that might be a way to see if there are other similarities.  Wasn't talking about faking interest in the same things, but I suppose that is a possibility, too.

MasterFireMaam made a good point that there would be a lot of reading to do for some of Us if one went back and tried to read EVERYTHING ever written.  (Though She does happen to be one of My favorite commentators.)  I run My mouth a lot, too.  Again, not thinking about an extreme here.  On one link through group posts, it gives a list of a number of recently made posts.  I can't remember how many, but it would definitely be a good place to start.

Unrepentant, actually, you were one of those that helped to make Me think of this concept, as you do tend to read what Some post and compare it to your own list.  It's a good quality.  I can only speak for Myself when I say I appreciate that kind of approach.  If one shows an interest in what I say here, chances are, they would do the same if a match was found.

Thanks to all who are making this an interesting discussion.  I think I'll sneak off to the ultra secret male subs board to see what the boys are up to.  <grin>

I read most of the threads by all of the Dominant Women on CM. I read all of the threads by some of the Dominas. I use to have their names on my favorites, before I realized it  showed up on their admire's list. I usually go to their profiles first to check  their most recent posts.  The first thing I check out on the message boards, is who started the threads to see if any of my favorites are their. I have learned a great deal reading the posts and certainly appreciate all the Dominas who participate.

Those of you who do follow threads of people you admire, do you find that it makes 'breaking the ice' easier?  Do you get a more favorable response from those whose posts you follow versus those who either don't post or whose posts you haven't read?
