At this point I'll try to respond to a few points raised. I can't get to all of them but,,,,, I have thoughts that are different from the norm. Whether that qualifies as insane is up in the air. But I don't act upon them. If I do, and I kill someone, kill me. The rule must apply to everyone. And to answer one question posed, yes it was a rant. I am sure it will never be implemented. I am not really sure it should be, especially until and unless it has the support of the People. But if the current policy remains, people need to think of ramifications. Will sane, law abiding Citizens be in the minority someday ? You betcha. Yes, perhaps I do care too much. I care the most about people who learn, and work hard to secure their future in a society in which that is damn near impossible. People with skills who pay taxes which support the incarcerated, whether in a mental institution or a prison. Someone has to think of them sooner or later. Whoever mentioned the juries. I think I can agree with that. If the dead person is later proven inocent, that might not be a bad idea. The problem with juries is that they are people and prone to mistakes. We also have a corrupt court system that allows prosecutors to violate court procedure as well as the law. This would have to be fixed first. Or perhaps better yet, if we have all the empty prisons, lock up a jusy that wrongly convicted someone of a capital crime. I would say for damn sure the prosecutor should go. Also, one has to realize the difference between execution and murder. Realize this, OK you hurt my family, I will get revenge. But nobody has done that lately. Executions after conviction of a capital crime is not revenge, it is cleaning. And before that happens alot has to change. First of all prosecutors should not be allowed to bring out large pictures of the victim. This sways juries "Oh that poor girl is dead, we gotta lock this monster up". They use it unfairly as a tool. What if the victim was butt ugly and 400 lbs. Even if they are a real asshole, is their life worth less than someone "Who could've been a model or an actress" ? Now I been busted for drunk driving and I took my licks. At one point I was required to go to some MADD meetings among other things. At the other things I picked up on their psychological ploy, but because of the venue I interacted with them and cooperated. It may have had a posive effect on me, I do knoiw more than I did when I got there, to the three day thing for first offenders in lieu of jail. They presented the material in a semi-humorous way. They were quite engaging in fact. But at the MADD meeting, they bring out the picture of a pretty teenage girl. The speaker said "She could've been an actress" and that turned me completely off. What if she wasn't good looking ? Is her life worth any less ? At the McIntire three day, I could tell that those people care. At the end they even said "Don't stop drinking if you don't want to just don't drive when you are". The Madd meetings, well I remember what they cost to go to and I counted up the heads. They are making a killing. I got their number. Getting back off that tangent, court cases have to be fair. The Constitution must be again respected and obeyed. The founding Fathers intended for it to be hard to get convictions, the premise was that it was better to let ten guilty go free rather than punish one innocent. Of course that didn't last. Think of the Salem witch trials. When did it become illegal to become a witch ? And if it did, the law should've been struck down as unconstitutional (Marbury vs. Madison). The Constitution did exist at the time did it not ? For one we shouldn't let this government execute anyone. Their percieved incompetence is just that. They have goals contrary to the well bieng of the People. At the top anyway, and what they do is hire incompetents on purpose because they are easier to control. Just give them the handbook and they read it without giving it any thought or consideration. Rules are rules. They respect "authority". I do not. Doctors, lawyers, all the people you depend on are controlled by very specific protocols, which are wrong. Once this is fixed, then the process should begin, maybe. We would have to be ABSOLUTELY sure of guilt. And I don't think we should kill for an accident, with one exception, a repeat drunk driver who kills with a car while drunk. Consider that an intentional act, and this comes from one who has been convicted, but did not hurt people. You are technically insane when you are drunk. But if you habitually smash your car drinking and driving and finally wind up killing somebody, well, it would not be an excuse. Kill or don't kill ? As crazy as I might seem, I would not want the sole position of deciding this. To decide to execute someone should be a decision made by more than one. Here's a tidbit for those who want to disect my mind. I got a book which paints a picture of a near utopian future 400 years from now. In that society people are intelligent, articulate and moral. In such a venue every case is given careful consideration, there is no plea bargaining. Such a system would never work now. We do not live in a society where truth and honor are the highest priority. This society executes plenty of people who don't deserve it, and the states have the right to do it according to what thinks of itself as the supreme court. They haven't any idea that the Supreme Court is actually We The People. In Texas, when GWB was governor, a person convicted of murder who had proved his innocence was executed. That state of Texas took it all the way to the supreme court to execute him because the new evidence came beyond the time limit. The supreme court sided with the state of Texas, and ruled that the execution was legal. HE HAD PROVEN HIS INNOCENCE ! First of all, the supreme court of any country of which we should be proud should've ruled the other way. Second of all, the state of Texas should've never persued this all the way up the flagpole. That was their tax dollars at work. Same for the rest of us, paying for the US attorneys. Is that what we pay taxes for ? And thirdly, but not leastly, GWB refused to even commute his sentence. This is "our leader" now. All of you who know how the world works these days are insane. You don't have to admit it, I just know. Most have their own radical plans that will never be implemented, but the thought is there. It is a perfect reaction to the environment in which we live. but notice that many of us are productive or at least semi-productive members of society. Just pipe dreams. If we don't refocus on changing the attitude of the government from within, we are doomed. Or perhaps the next generation will do it, or the next, or the next, or the next. T
