G'morning all:


I was using the "Browse Photos" feature. Do any of you get slightly ticked off when you see non people pictures? Shots of someone's toy collection, their basement dungeon, their car/bike/truck, their pet(s), their musical instrument, instead of them? Mon dieu, I could go to Webshots if I wanted that. I could mention the ratios, but this most likely inflame enough folks as it is.

I go to that feature for a little eye candy. I'm not there to ogle nudes, more to see people in BDSM activities. I'm just a bit tired of seeing an entire rack full of floggers or restraints ~not~ being used on a hapless victim. Yes, I move on and click "Next" if I don't see something that appeals to me. Just venting. Have at it folks...

I think it's funny when people take pictures of their fetish equipment (or whatever it's called), for example, an examination table (for people who are into the gyno inspection/exam thing).  That is such a huge turnoff for me.

My pics (I have 15 on my profile total) are there to show various sides of my personality. There are pictures of me in several modes of dress, as well as pictures of me with my horse, because he is a major part of my life/lifestyle.

I figure if people don't like it, they don't have to look.

Personally, I LOVE seeing pics of people's pets...because I'm seeking someone who likes pets as much as I do and having one in their profile photo indicates to me that their pet is major part of their lifestyle.

Hehe... as long as we are ranting about pics... I am torn between horror, disgust and amusement when people put pictures up to represent  and/or sell themselves and the room they are in is a total trashy heap of a mess... good lord people, pick up your dirty laundry and beer cans and empy the cigarette butts out of the overflowing ash tray beside you...

Hey Bella, I just added a picture of part of my toy collection yesterday :oS  the problem with the "browse photos" feature is that you see pictures out of context and thus, as you say, the pictures are meaningless.  If, on the other hand, you see 3 pictures of someone on their profile and then their 4th picture is of their toy collection, their favourite pet monkey or even their beloved Skoda then i think it makes perfect sense.   :o)

Moral of the story... you perve on the people through the browse photos section and you get what you deserve ;o)

No, I think seeing pics of cars/bikes/trucks, toys, pets etc, kind of gives you/me an idea
as to what others are into.

i totally agree with you! LOL!
Maybe it is how i was raised coupled with the virgo in me, but i have always believed in putting your best foot (or in this case - photo) forward. i am the type person that reads the whole person including their enviroment and when i see pictures of Dominants, male or female, with clutter behind them it gives me the perception of not being in control. From this side of the kneel - not a confidence booster in their abilities to dominate. Likewise, for submissives, the chosen photo is a reflection of your personality and when a girl/boy shows they care enough about themselves, i feel it gives confidence to a Dominant that they can care and service them well.
 
There have been discussions ad nauseum flaming people who seriously evaluate others by the picture - but in this medium and if one is trying to give a certain perception of themselves, i personally find it crucial. It is a simple matter of evaluating ones own picture and saying "does this convey what i want it to"? For me, it is not about how beautiful my photo is but does it convey my submission and desire to be pleasing. At the very least, am i showing myself in the best possible way regardless of my intentions on this site.
 
i would also like to address what i have read here in the past about "showing ones true self - flaws and all - or at ones worse so that one is accepted by that". my flaws of today will not be the flaws i have tomorow - i am in a constant state of improving myself. If i project what i wish to be and am seen as such, then i will become that.
 
For the most part, i think people here do pretty good with their pictures, but there are some that make me go "what were they thinking?"!!!
 
Ofcourse, this is just my opinion :-)

I also far prefer to see a photo of the person, and not one particular feature of their body! That being said, I do understand why a lot of people are reluctant to risk putting a picture of themselves online. A lot of people are in jobs where if there kink were to come out, it would not be good for them. Other people are just nervous about showing themselves on a public forum.

When I contact somebody with no picture, one of the first things I ask for is to send me one privately. As long as they are willing to do that, I have no issue with their not having one on the site.

I adore seeing photos of people's pets when I view their album. It lets me know I'm viewing someone who sees BDSM as a part of their whole life, rather than as a corner. I also love seeing their toys (as well as sharing photos of my own.) This isn't a "get me off" site, but rather a dating site where people wish to show the full range of their personality. Just because you're here looking to be immersed in fetish doesn't mean the rest of the site is one dimensional. Many here are looking for relationships with a whole, multifaceted person, not just play time and fetish.

I suggest you invest in a membership at a site just meant to titillate you. Sure, you're going to pay for it.. but as you don't like seeing the dreck the rest of us post on the free site, it may be a viable alternative.

I totally agree. Not a single one of my photos shows, as the OP put it "people in BDSM activities."

If you want to see that, why not join a fetish porn site? This is a site for networking amongst members of the community and for finding dating partners...I want someone to see the multiple facets of my personality and to know that I'm a real person as opposed to someone just looking for kinky sex.

And I have to admit that I get warm fuzzies when I see a pic of a dominant guy with his dog...I have often messaged people JUST to compliment them on their cute canine! It's lead to some good friendships.

Your main post can not be of something other than you, but your other photos may be of anything that conform to the rules of:
No commercial photos or artwork - Only pictures you took yourself
No extreme or vulgar pictures No objects or places for your primary photo
No explicit genital nudity or hardcore bondage

ROFL cause I know someone this happend to ! I have a friend who has 3 large snakes that roam freely in her home and she's had some boyfriends wake up to a not-so-pleasant suprise at the foot of the bed.

To me, people's pics show me things about who they are. It's just one way to express yourself online. So, no, it doesn't bother me at all. If i don't like a picture, i just move on to the next one.

I'm not here looking for a sub, and I don't often browse pics looking for eye candy, so no, it doesn't bother Me if I see a profile with something other than the individual's pic on it.  I don't use one to protect My identity, so I don't expect others to.
