You know, I feel a little warm and fuzzy from all the flames sent my direction, I think it is time to get some marshmallows, some weinies and have a party with the next flame that comes my way

You know, my way of making lemonade out of lemons... Oh My the cliches are thick on this thread aren't they?

What I've been trying to do, is consider each response to be directed at what I said, and not directly at me.

You said it yourself - correctly in my view ... you can't expect strangers to know who you really are. We just don't have the tools here to get more than a passing glimpse at each other.

I think another dynamic that comes into play. For myself, I'm a very quiet person offline. This is probably my greatest outlet for open, unguarded conversation. I probably over-extend myself far too much ... you know, at times it doesn't hurt too much if someone here thinks I'm a complete jerk. It is at least a different emotion from being thought aloof, or having no value past being not unattractive.

Well ... now I completely jacked erin's thread ... sorry! This will all come to an end, now that Merc is getting me run out of Dodge.

Actually this thread should not make anyone uncomfortable,
unless they turn every thread into a political debate.
And if they do that, and they don't care, then they won't raise a stink about this thread

I personally am done with 24-7 politics.

who cares abou txyz.  what does it accomplish by highjacking a post every chance you get to expouse your off the wall views which people tune out.

lets suppose everyone here wanted bush administration gone. it will not happen. why should i care about gitmo? do you think US prisons are any different?  they arent.  the US prison system is pretty close to gitmo. there is no "recovery"

the endless rants- lead me to wonder- what have you personally done to remedy this deep injustice?   probaly nothing.

you are alienating the crowd most likely to agree with you.

take your concerns to the king. we peasants have no say so in the matter.

the premise has become that there is nothing good about America. So if this is the case. LEAVE.  you find nothing good? nothing at all? well- thats your choice to be bitter.  many of us choose to not be bitter.

i have nothing to do with gitmo. what can the average joe do?  nothing.

off topic is   - as it says- you are now just being difficult to get along with.

if the country is messed up- then fix it.

i could pull my hair out over the assinineness of that rant.

a few ppl politely pointed out that the highjacks had gone on too long- and what do you do? antagonize.

you sir, ought to be put on moderation.  i wont say whom im addressing.

I think this goes directly to the meat of this thread Caitlyn, we cannot expect anything from anyone , can we really? I mean we do all the time without thinking about it, but when people disappoint us,  upset us, well it is up to us to decide how we feel about that. No one else is responsible for how we enjoy a thread, a movie, a drive home, except us. No one else can make us feel anything. We choose it. So if I do not like a post, a thread, a forum, a movie, a television show... I can either learn to like it or turn it off... my choice, my responsibility... no one else but me can be responsible for what I am getting out of life. I take full responsibility for it, and it is tremendously freeing  approach life that way. Of course, there are times when I do not follow my own advice, but it gets easier all the time.

Hey now! Getting the 2nd opinion confirming my case of "nuts" I pulled back my threat.

Heading over now to see if my new status entitles me to SSI or at least a handicapped parking space.

Stuart Smalley: I'm gonna do a terrific show today, and I'm gonna help people because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and, doggonit, people like me.

Hello. I'm Stuart smalley. Uh.. before I start the Halloween show, I just want to make amends for yesterday's show, in which I said Madonna was shame-based and sick in her own disease. I.. I had no right to take Madonna's inventory. As we say in Program, when you point a finger at someone, you have three fingers pointing back at you.. and.. I guess.. a thumb pointing up at God. Or something. Whatever. I don't know. I'm sorry. Okay.

Anyway, today is Halloween, and I decided to wear a costume, as a treat to my inner child. It's a skeleton, because it's scary, and because it reminds me that I'm a human being. And that's.. okay. That's what I am. And, besides, I think it makes me look thinner. Now, I had thought of trying to come up with something a little more creative or original, like dressing up as a feeling. But what does dread look like, you know, other than my mother? Anyway, of course I'm gonna be home tonight when all the little ghosts and goblins knock on my door "Trick-or-treat." And I decided not to give out any candy, because I don't want to enable any little sugar addicts, which, believe me, I was. I used to go home with my big bag of candy and eat it all in one night, and get sick and try to puke.. but I couldn't, and that's why I weighed nearly 300 pounds. Believe me, binging was not a problem; purging, I just could not do. So, instead of candy this year, I've decided to give out rice cakes. A few kids might be disappointed, but that's.. okay. It's their problem.

How about - turning every thread into comedy?

The interesting thing is........in my initial post there was absolutely zero mention of anyone specific nor did I have anyone in mind. It is rather amusing that anyone would have such an overinflated view of themself that they would immediately ASS-U-ME such a thing and begin ranting on about it.

And yes, I am laughing because, as usual, it is very humorous.

I did not take it to be about me, it does not matter to me in the larger scheme of my life if it was about me, it does not hurt my feelings, you do not know me. It was about someone, wasn't it? If it wasn't, why post it? It is very easy not to name people in an insult, but all those who have ever done that certain behavior all become morons.

I am glad that you find this all humorous, someone should, and I kinda do too, anyone wanna join me for a roasted marshmallow? I have a pile toasted perfectly over here..smiles

No, it makes you fun to read!

Now I am really going to hijack this post, because I have to go drive my car, like I promised Daddy, before rush hour. Phobias suck!

Um....I don't know. What's your definition of bad? And what's your definition of flirt? And while you're at it...what's your definition of "I"? AND...most importantly of course...do you only flirt with people whose opinions on the war you personally agree with????

It makes me wonder.. if some are so lacking control in their own life.. they try and grab whatever control they think they see.. including trying to control the direction of a thread?
Just a thought.

You made a mistake. And that's okay. You're a human being. Okay? You think that maybe it would be a good start if you, you know, told the people, you flirted with that you were sorry for what you did?
