And here is a lovely link to a related thread:  http://www.collarchat.com/m_2099303/tm.htm  that I hope works.  It's over in the Ask  Master zone, Advice For New Dominants.  Just change the genders around a little, and guys, read the parts that are directed to you regarding WOMEN.

I'm very glad you reposted that in this thread Michael!  I think it's something that new dominants also need to understand.  Much of what you've posted I feel applies to me personally as well; not just as a submissive who's actions would reflect upon his dominant, but as a human being with similar core values.  At the same time, I couldn't serve a dominant that didn't have values similar to what you've posted.

Thank you again for sharing.

Thank you for the kind words and your admonishment of me ("Much of what you've posted I feel applies to me personally as well; not just as a submissive who's actions would reflect upon his dominant, but as a human being with similar core values.") was WELL deserved. In my defense; the original was posted in a thread about dominants "whining" and I wanted to make as few changes as possible but, you're right; these ARE qualities that we would hope ALL human beings aspire to, at the very least.

Wow!  I just want to thank *everyone* who replied to this thread.  I'm trying to catch up on some things offline so I'm not sure when I'll get back to post in this thread in a meaningful way.  At the risk is missing and/or offending anyone, I'll quickly reply to a few people.

MoGa:  your words are so very kind and TOTALLY FUCKING GOOD FOR MY EGO!  Thank you. :-)

Akasha and pixelslave:  thanks for adding the "protocol and management sub-topic in the thread.

wickedgame916:  you're welcome!  You are not nearly as new at this as your post implied!  I'm glad a small modicum of what I wrote was helpful.

Satyr6406:  I really enjoyed your sub-topic on a dominant's responsibilities, standards, and ethics.

LadyHibiscus:  what do you mean "don't encourage him"? :-)  Thank you for your contributions to this thread (and for your advice, both online and off).

Elan.
