I'm really shocked that there weren't adequate contingency measures in place to deal with this sort of threat. Yeah, this is huge. My heart sinks when I think of all the wildlife in harms way, and all the people who depend on the gulf for their way of life and standard of living.

MM, the only way to be against it is to not use energy. By that- anything that comes into your house that took petro to create. This means food items too. All the fake environmentalists don't realize to what extent they ARE the problem. Any consumption adds to this problem. Live like the Amish for 6 months- then maybe I would think you 'care".

No, we need the energy and the safeguards that should have been in place weren't, which is baffling. There are safety measures that are nearly perfect that aren't that expensive, why weren't they in use? And why was the federal government asleep at the wheel, it took over a week before they began mounting any real response. Its a catastrophe but catastrophes happen.
