i did think twice about including a photo on my profile. Then i decided that at least people can see me from the start and not back out once they see my photo [:D][:D]

Web cams to chat face to face are just another verification of me being who i say i am and vice versa.  i decided that the privacy issue went like this, anyone who saw my photo is using collarme too and unlikey to cause a fuss. [;)]

I have a photo on my profile. I figure that's pretty much all I should really need. It's the most recent picture of me, and yes, it looks just like me. I don't know how I'd respond to a request for a cam feed, or whatever they call it, because I don't have a web cam and don't have any intentions of buying one. As a matter of fact, if the relationship is going to be developing online mainly, I'm probably not going to be interested in participating anyway. I really hate the disconnectedness that exists through the Internet using email and message boards.

It depends on what one is looking for. Since I've mostly been looking for friends and online subs, photos aren't that important.

I have met people from online in the past though. Before I meet someone I like to share a few photos. I'm not going to meet anyone who doesn't have at least two. Most people have a few friends with digital cameras, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get a couple.

I've had that happen before.  Not from work, and not from this site, but it is an interesting experience.

Wide shot and no face needs be there on site, then private face shots ...agree that meeting takes time and sometimes distance for the right person. I think video with talking is the best but ...why meet someone that lies or thinks he (she) looks or is someone he really isn't. Non verbal is almost as important as words.

What I love is when someone writes me and asks for More Pics? I have 3 photos on my profile.

These people who ask that always have NO PHOTOS and invariably, no profile written.

Dang, these visual fantasies are wiping me out…

Webcams don't always work. I own a Macintosh computer and, back when I had a camera that worked, I got less than 20% connection with someone with a PC. Of course I could always link to another Mac user. And when I did get a connection to someone with a PC, the sound didn't work.

But a webcam can always snap a photo. And it's a cinch that the photo will be recent.

Anyone who is not working for the government who purchases an Apple monitor today is getting a webcam for "free." And if they're getting an iMac an MacBook or a MacBook Pro, the webcam is built in and on their screen. Whether or not PCs will follow along on that standard is indeterminate at this point. But the software incompatibilities continue to exist.

I'm looking forward to seeing LaTigresse with fingers in ears sticking her tongue out at me soon.

I didn't have a webcam till somebody sent me one.  I was very reluctant to use it.  Oh no, he said...it'll be fun!
 
I'm here to tell you he, and every other person that insisted I find it and plug it in, eventually asked me to remove my cloths or move the camera under the desk.

heh.  i've the same experience.

i also have the option of saying "the camera belongs to Sir, not me, and he dictates the content displayed thereon."  that's kinda fun in itself.

Ive had people ask me what I'm weaing, and I'll answer a tank top and boxers. And they will reply wow i wish you had a web cam.

Ive nicely let them know I do not perform on command, and dont see the point to a webcam. When they say theyd like to watch how I react to what they do for me.  Id feel guilty, theyd see me yawn, get up for coffee, or channel surf...

And its not like I DONT have pictures up.  They want me toprove its really me. If it isnt, for as many as I have of the same chick, either I have way tooo much time to do research or shes in on it with me anyway.

If you are willing to meet someone in public both should exchange photo's. Even if you are trying to hide your identity they'll know it when you meet them so honestly might as well reveal yourself before then

I am one of "those" who insist on an attached photo with initial contact or no reply. Why... ? It's quite simple. I have a photo of myself posted which I keep current by updating every few months or so. If someone initiates contact expressing an interest to serve, then it's only courteous to send a photo if they wish an honest reply.
 
While looks may not be everything, as someone else pointed out, chemistry is important. Especially if I am seeking a primary partner and not just someone to play with. I need to have a visual of the person on the other side of the screen in order to make a connection before we get into an indepth conversation about ourselves, our interests and what we are looking for.
 
Let's face it, we all have our prerequisites and what not only catches but holds our attention beyond a simple hello. Mine happens to be a photo... and I'm even specific about that as well. The rest will be discovered during our "getting acquainted" period and if all our duckies fall in a row... a face to face meeting will be the next step. Providing of course, reality sets in and he doesn't disappear in a cloud of dust.

I'm the same way, although I would never expect to meet someone without giving a photo, I don't give them up front and am careful about whom I reveal my identity to.  Anyone that doesn't understand my reluctance to give out personal information that actually live in this area isn't someone I want to spend time with.
