I wore glasses from the age of 7 (48 years). I had laser eye surgery Feb. 1 to correct my distance vision so now only need glasses to read. Thankfully the cheap dollar store +2.00 lenses work so I no longer have to have prescription glasses. I would love to have had everything corrected but was told with age the vision will continue to deteriorate for close up stuff so was content to eliminate part of the problem.

Congratulations!!! I have had some friends have that done, and am saving up to have hubby done first, then myself.  It gets tiresome wearing either glasses or contacts all the time.

At about 12 I got my first set. Gradually "graduated" to bifocals. Of course at the magic age of 40 got to do trifocals. The optician told me I'd have a terrible time of adjusting to the trifocals, but didn't have a bit of trouble. Even up through the bifocals I tested at 20/10 vision except for astigmatism. or is that 10/20 (better than normal??) always put them on first thing in the morning and forgot them until bedtime!!! As mentioned above, only a bit of trouble getting used to each prescription change
George now 69

I've worn them since 3rd grade. I want to get lasik done, some day, but hell, as long as I don't go blind, I'll be okay with glasses, too. I'm horrified at the thought of not being able to see.

Hear ya there LEvel. My mom has wore glass about all her life as well. And it's been hard on not just us .. I know more so on her over the past few years she's gone blind. Legally blind now.  Gave up the drivers liscense... eye doctor after eye doctor... surgery on eyes to fix...(no such luck) She's bought special Gorddee (Spelling on that... Think Star Trek Next Generation) magnified glasses. She's bought special machine to magnify extremely so she can see check book to pay bills.

But moms kewl... she gets pissed alot.. frustrated.. but then says something like... Well i've seen just about everything.. and as long as I got my hearing and can hear George Jones..i'm good to go...LOL...(Then some doctor told her she might want to look into hearing aids.... I wonder if he knew just how close that joke of his about cost him his life...lmao)

I've worn glasses since i was 16, and will probably not get contacts. I have to wear them basically to see, but don't really need them to read.

And there is nothing sexier (IMO) than a man that wears glasses.

I wear contacts/glasses and have since junior high.  I would love love love to have LASIK.  I just can't, at this point, justify that sort of expense.

I'd hate to be deaf, but if I had to choose between that and my sight, the "eyes" would have it.

I am glasses-free!  I had glasses from when I was 8 till I was 21, but had LASIK in 2000 and have had 20/10 vision since.  There are some side effects, but considering I couldn't see my hand if it was touching my nose pre-LASIK, you'll never hear me complaining about having it done.

Hi beautiful lady. What side effects do you have?

There's a specialist here, and I called his office about what could be done for "floaters", and they said not much ..... but if I have the lasik, he'd be the one to do it.

I've worn glasses since I was 5. I went in to get lasik and they found cateracts. My insurance paid for them to be removed and I paid to have multi focus lens to be put in. I've had two 'touch up' surgeries since and can see pretty well. My distance is very good and I can at least read a menu without reading glasses. All in all it was VERY worth it and I would have it done again.
