Tuoni,

I wasn't talking about Canada...sorry if I offended you. I was speaking in GENERAL terms about people that complain about age limits. That includes my ex. Why don't they move somewhere where it's NOT against the law....that is all I meant. I don't appreciate you "singling me out" as I wasn't attacking you OR your country. And, thank you...I am quite well-versed in what a "pedophile" is.

Be well,
M. Diva

Ok, I do apoligize for being irritable in my post. I try not to be but sometimes I am.. It was how you wrote those last two lines. Specificly 2 parts.
quote:

he "age of consent" is considerably lower in some of the other countries

14 is considerably lower than 18 and Canada falls under the label of "other countries" Denmark and the Netherlands also falls under that labal.

quote:

So, I suggest that the pedophiles

"Pedophile" to be specific. A pedofile, as has been mentioned numerous times, is someone who engages (or is it simply wishes to engage?) in sexual acts with a prepubesent. A 14 year old is generally not a prepubesent. A 16 year old is almost garunteed not to be a prebubesent. Nothing about having having a age of consent at 14 helps pedophiles.

Its akin to saying "<random country here> is more lenient to accidental manslaughter. I suggest seriel killers should move there.

I'm not trying to be offensive (although I may be). I'm just trying to explain why I was offended and how what you type can be interputed. Be very careful when making an association between something like pedohpile and a people/nation/organization/whatever.

What seems freaky to me is that someone else said that the age of consent is different for males than for females.  I cant get my head around that.  Wonder if its true.

pre-emptive law enforcement, like giving someone a trafic ticket because they might speed  someday!

If they were stopped by an officer of the law, they must be going to break the law at some point,

Otherwise, there would be no reason to stop them.

Hey! My dad has used that very logic to get out of jury duty, dismissed by the defense for cause. lol

You never see me and your father at the same party.

A coincidence?  I think not.

And as far as the topic, if the individual involved is the teacher, then he/she KNOWS that regardless of how they look on the outside, the bundle of adolescent hormones is still a child.

I teach adult women in adrenalin / heightened hormone levels states.  While it is not technically therapy, the line between what I do as a mock assailant and what a therapist does introducing the patient to her / his innermost emotional demons is fairly blurred.  I have always had a deeply rooted ethical sense that any sort of educator, therapist, doctor to patient, student realtionship is simply wrong.  The power relationship between the two sides is such, no matter how effectively those involved justify / explain it away, that I personally do not think it is a truly consensual relationship.

Or perhaps this is just my own personal rationalization about why the idea of fucking students I have taught creeps me out more than words can really express.

Ewww, ick.
