I do think it was a poor judgement call for the teacher to become sexually involved with her students;  it's definately not professional conduct. And if the kids are considered under the age of 'consent' in that particular state, then it's clearly an illegal act, regardless of whether the boys enjoyed themselves.  And I do think she should be prosecuted for it, because what if next time she targets a 13 year old instead of a young man of 18? 

As far as them suffering any harm: I personally doubt that a 16 and/or 18 year old boy were harmed from having sex with a twentysomething female..

Age of consent: Depending on the state, it varies. It also depends on Gender. For those who didn't know that, look up the statutes for your state. In most of the States where 18 is the listed age of consent, that is the MALE age. The female age of consent is usually 16. Seems to be a little gender bias going on.

Sexing up the teacher: I nailed more than one in my middle school and high-school. Am I scarred from it? Hell no. As they were infinitely more experienced than I was at the time, they taught me alot of what I know today. It was certainly consentual, and no harm came to me for it. It also gave me an appreciation for mature women.

Bragging about sexing the teacher, while still in school: Complete and utter idiocy. Do NOT rock the boat while you are in it.... Loose lips sink ships, ya know.

Now, with those specific points made, I believe that America needs to loosen the 'purity' belt and get a grip. No more than 200 years ago, women got married at 12-14. If you made it to late teens/early twenties and you weren't married, you were a spinster. Morality is in constant flux. The permissive mores of times gone by are todays crimes, while yesterdays crimes are todays rights.

As well, YOUR morales may not be the same as MY morales. The law and I disagree on many things.

NOTE: I'm not saying abuse of Authority is acceptable. But if the underage person initiates the affair, then there is no 'crime'.

Hmmmm...this would be the SAME Vili that MARRIED the teacher who "ruined" his life...Mary Kay LeTourneau. I'm not saying that any of this is right, but the last I heard of, they were still married. Granted, I haven't really kept up in this past year.

Edited to add, for whoever it was who bragged about banging his high-school teacher: Congratulations, and if you haven't suffered because of it, good for you.  But that hardly means that it's OK for teachers to be having sex with their students.  Really, suppose someone were to say, "Oh well, I was raped, but I kinda enjoyed it and haven't suffered from it" (and there ARE rape victims who say this)--do you really think that would be enough reason to decide that rape is acceptable?  What this teacher did was against the law, and the law is there for a reason.  The fact is none of you would condone this if the teacher was male.  Why it's all right if the teacher is female is beyond me.

the age of consent should be lowered to at least 16 since mental maturity seems to be ocurring in around that age.

I didn't look at this particular woman's picture. However, there was a VERY attractive blonde teacher in Florida a year or two ago...Debra LaFave...who actually did some modeling...who had sex with an underaged student. She was BiPolar for one, and sexual promiscuity often goes along with that disorder when someone is in their "manic" phase. I don't understand these women throwing their families and careers away for a sexual relationship with a child. Apparently, there ARE some serious issues underlying this sort of behavior. I've enclosed a link with some pics of her. In this particular case, she received three years of "house arrest." Had a man done something similar, they would have put him "under the jail" for a few years. If any of you aren't comfortable clicking the link below, you can "google" her. It's also interesting that there is a "double standard." Most men, but not all, wouldn't see this as an issue where an older female teacher and male student are involved...however, most women would. However, there are exceptions to both points of view. And, for the record, I DO NOT think that this is OK in the least.

Where in the world did you get that idea that "mental maturity" occurs around age 16? I know some 40-somethings that aren't mature emotionally/mentally. However that is very subjective and varies from person to person. I'll admit that alot of these UMs in that age range LOOK mature, but they are NOT capable of making adult decisions in most instances.

Well, they don't tend to use the best cameras to take booking photographs, and I doubt if they have the best flourescent bulbs in jail either.  Although it's not as bad as it once was, cheaper flourescent bulbs don't provide the spectrum of light we're used to from incandescent bulbs or the sun.  They tend towards the blue/green side of the spectrum, so photographs taken using their light tend to come out with an overall greenish/bluish hue.  Many, but not all, newer/more expensive flourescent bulbs are balanced to mimic the more yellowish hue that we're used to.

That entire wedding was a "spectacle." Either "Extra" or one of those other Hollywood news programs followed the story and broadcast parts of the wedding. They had quite an extravagant ceremony and received gifts from all over the country. It's like the entire thing was made a mockery of. Like it was actually OK what she did because of the outcome...them being "in love" and marrying. The other sick truth is that they actually MADE MONEY from publicizing their story. I believe that all of her children were present and IN the wedding as well...including the ones from her previous marriage. I had seen Vili and Mary Lou interviewed on Larry King Live. She still looks at him with that "psychotic love-crazed look" that we have all seen in that infamous pic of them from the beginning. That pic has been widely publicized. Surely, she's NOT emotionally stable. I just can't believe that!

I am sure that both of these people's lives were ruined to some degree. She won't ever teach again that's for sure. Of course, you elaborated on what sort of issues the male student has had since then. Of course, he can move to a larger city where no one knows him or what happened and he can "get on with his life." It's not going to be quite so easy for her. I just don't understand why some people do not think of the consequences of their actions in advance....hormones or no hormones.

Intelligence does not necessarily equate with MATURITY. I've known some brilliant 14-year-olds with genius IQs...but, they were also very "child-like" at that age. Of course, there are ALWAYS exceptions. Being "sexually mature" does not mean that someone is "emotionally mature" by any means. Speaking of that, a person's IQ is already determined at a younger age...it really doesn't increase by many points, if any as they age. There are also some very cunning/manipulative teens out there that may very well "seduce" teachers or initiate "pranks" saying that they had a sexual encounter with a teacher (as someone else mentioned) when in fact they didn't. As an end result, they "ruined" that person's life.

Very few things in life creep (squick) me out to the degree women hitting on me after being their mock assailant does.

I was waiting for some MALE to say this...*rolling eyes* They were there...they have always been there...even when I was in high school. Perhaps they were just more "discreet" or too "smart" to get caught. I had my suspicions about a couple of the coaches/teachers in school and there were rumors that were never substantiated.

To my amazement, my exlover was part of a girl's group that actively stalked and seduced their high school teachers--both male and female. They all claimed to have had sex with various teachers and bragged on it even years later when they were in their 30's. I know there's a teacher/student boundary but, sometimes it's the teachers being victimized. A young, dumb and fairly naive teacher would be easy game for some of these predatory students who regard seduction as a contest without regard for the serious consequences of their actions.

Wow...that's scary! And to think that part of me would LOVE to be a teacher, although on a college level. I agree with what you say about some teachers being "victimized." If you look up a few posts, you will see that I have already mentioned this.
