playing and listening to music. Singing too. While playing my instruments and singing I fall into a certain trance that even if it only lasts for a couple of minutes, I'm rejuvinated for the rest of the day... or even days to come too.

I like occasionally seeing non-arguable threads -laughs- and while I was reading some of the forums today for some reason I began to think about centering, what centers me, what might center someone else (be it s-type or Dominant) in their interactions. That thing or place which immediately banishes stresses, problems, and whatever else may be going on in your life, even if just temporarily.

For me, it's being at one's feet, literally kneeling, arms to each side of His legs, forehead pressed to His feet (preferably bare or booted), and just being, no need for words or movement. Immediately everything disappears except that moment in time. I'd never thought about it too much from a Dominant's perspective, so I'll be interested to hear from both sides...

For me, there are many things:
A good book...several hours working on my hot rods...writing on my seminar material...spending time with a special submissive...listening to music...walking...riding motorcycles.  All these things get me out of that place where worries and everything else crowd my mind.

Massage, rhythmic flogging, meditation and also just curling at his feet can all be very centering for me.  I am with LA on her ideas of centering on ones' own.

It varies depending on what is causing me stress.

I am an introvert so if I am drained from interacting within a large group of people time alone will center me.

If I am drained from having to manage my employees all day long spending time actively submitting to him will help center me.

On a day to day basis it is protocols or doing the same thing in almost the exact same way each and every time that will feed me the most and balance out all the stress.  I find this very meditative and calming.

Doing anything with my hands helps me to relax.  (insert obvious jokes here.)  I love puzzles, too.  Jigsaws satisfy more the bigger they get.  Rubix cube.  Magic tricks.  Drawing.  As a child I would always drum my fingers when I was bored and it drove teachers crazy.  When they finally broke me of it I had nothing else to do and started biting my nails.  Now I'm older and get to make the rules.  Don't like it?  Then maybe you'd like a taste of the hand for yourself

What centers me? Him....always, any and everything about Him. If or when He's not here, reading or working helps. Sometimes kids can, it just depends what has me off center, which doesn't happen too often.

If I am feeling off balance because of something horrible at work I find my center being around people, particularily those I am friends with, life, love, laughter being around and part of that atmosphere helps remind me what life is.

pain... not  the 'holy-crap-I-stubbed-my-toe'pain but the pain of play. It pushes everything else away, the petty issues, the insecure body issues, the fears...everything dissolves into the moment when all thinking stops and only sensation and the base primal emotions take over and I can actually let go and just BE.A single look into my Top's eyes, he gets a certian look especially when he knows I'm floundering, it can pull me out of the worst part of my mind

Touching Rob, it can be just a touch of hands as we pass or a hug, he reminds me to let go of the negative and breath. The sound of his voice, saying my name.

And of all silly things......  :)   cross stitch

I can think of a lot of things that distract me, but not so many that center me.
I know running through my forms does.  singing and dancing too.  Everything else I can think of that I do to feel better, acts as a distraction rather than a centering for me.  So interesting.
Thanks for the  thread.

Smiles!

Writing.
Watching the forest around my home thrive.
Humming birds are amazing. I could watch them for hours.

When I am with Mistress, and I am serving Her needs, whether chore or play.  When we are apart, exercise, stretching, and rubbing a wonderfully sore bite mark or four.

Sitting straight but relaxed with legs crossed, eyes closed, breathing deeply and evenly.  I allow the days happenings to disappear as my mind slows until it is still - and I am at peace within.

For me it can be a comination of things but when I close my eyes and think about the feeling of being on my knees before someone laying my head down to the floor and having the opportunity to be available for whatever He wishes of me..A sincere feeling and sense of worth resonates through my entire body , mind and soul that does not mirror anything else in my life. I have found that also writing poetry , as I have been writing for quite some years now , helps to keep my mind clear yet focused and my body soon follows suit.

Meditation.

I've manage to develop a kind of on the fly meditation threw deep breathing practices to use when I was still working in professional kitchens and was about to have a meltdown from stress.

Mediation.
Sitting ritual.
A nice hot ritual bath.

or just sitting back and playing candyland with my grandchildren. They help me see that submission isn't just to submit to a Dom, but to willing accept and give to them the knowledge I have of the ancient ways and family history.

Unless you are there where you are comfortable submitting (yet control your life) to the life path you are one, you will not understand what I am saying.
