Meditation really helps Me. Breathing techniques, regulating My heartbeat. I have social anxiety disorder right in it's beginning stages, and have learned to do these things because My mom has severe S.A.D. and I've been talking her down out of panic attacks for years. Also reading, writing, or cuddling with one of My animals (a puppy, a full-grown min-pin, and two cats). Painting helps, sketching helps. Talking to My therapist REALLY helps, even if I just call on the weekend and vent to her voicemail. A good firm hug from My momma (yeah, I'm a momma's girl.) Baking does wonders for Me, cooking in general. Crocheting does wonders too. There are several things I can do to collect and calm Myself out of a potential panic attack or relax after I've had a stressful day. When we lived where I had access to a pool, I'd do laps. Usually 500 or so a day. That was My relaxation time. Now that I don't have this, even something so simple as laying out in the sun and reading a good book or taking a short nap helps. If all else fails, I have a prescription for xanax. I take two milligrams, grab a cup of tea and just wait for them to kick in.
