Thinking about names, this is something that happened to my mother and makes me laugh my ass off.

She was working as a secretary in a grade school and someone came in to register her twin boys. She told my mother their names were Le' monjello and Or'angejello and spelt them for my mom, after when my mom was processing their admission papers she took another look at their names and realized they were Lemon-Jello and Orange-Jello, go figure..??[:D]

Missy.

You know, Mark Lemongello was a baseball player.  He sucked, but that was his real name.

Well Asthma is one of weirdest names I've ever heard.

I've come across similar. And I always wonder what the general intetions of the parents were. If the benefit of the child was kept first

Why not name the baby stapler, or lamp, knicker or cheese salsa dip?

It 's ok to be original and  everything but please give it a little thought that another individual has to bear that name so being a funnyman or making a statement, this is not quite the venue to make your mark.

Herta has to be one to top my list.

Without giving the last name, I knew an Eardley Burdett (Lastname).

Guess the parents really felt it important to send the kid to Beat-up school.

Since I have heard of a woman naming her daughter clittoris, I'm not sure this is funny anymore.

(general reply)

I have taken care of several sets of twins in my life. One set was Darrell Raymond and Derrell Ramon. I could not help thinking, "this is my brother Darrell, and my other brother, Derrell". *L*

There was also twins, Jeremy and Jeremiah, and of course, Daniel and Danielle; no to forget Chaquita and Shaquita. People just don't want to wrack their brains coming up with two completely different names, I guess. And there was the girl named Quonshondria, which they prononced Kuh-Shana.

I'd get calls from grandparents when the kids were sick, and I'd ask the child's name to get the record, and dozens of times I was told, "Oh, I can't even begin to spell that name his mama gave him. We just call him Boo."

I went to school with a kid of German parentage called Hoover. He got through an awful amount of teasing and I think that's why he got the nickname 'Electrolux'.

Several years ago when I was doing TEFL teaching I worked with an American called John Thomas (which will make anyone from the UK grin - for those unaware it's a popular euphemism for penis).

I have also met a man called 'Ace'.

I once knew a woman named Quo Vadis.  She had something like seven siblings and all their names were equally odd.

When I was very young my best friend was Thumper (she kicked in the womb) Storm (twas a dark n stormy night) _____ and her little sister was Beezer (can't remember that reason).

Thumper was the coolest kid I ever knew & sometimes I think that was partly due to the novelty of her name.
