Upon reading some lists that i am suscribed to, this subject came up...

So here goes another poll

When is a slave no longer a slave?

I'ld be interested in some of the reasoning if ya'll got the time

yes it is veiwed differently but it was a gorean list that had the difference of opinion to begin with but I wanted ALL M/s participants responses on this not Just Goreans

Is this like a relationship gone south kinda question?...like the slave has stopped assuming the role of slave....i'm asking because the 3 questions you asked

Hiya,

not sure what started the original question in the lists where i had read it.

i just wanted to have have other input than the few people that were responding on the list

Imo, it would seem a slave would quit being a slave ONLY if the Master stopped Mastering but i could be waaaaaaaaaay wrong in this line of thinking.*shrugs*

She could stop being a slave if she wanted to stop......she could stop being "his" slave if he released her.

(But ya know I think if you identify as a slave, a submissive, a Master, a Dom, a switch ....a scarecrow or even Dorothy........you will be one regardless of if you have a partner or not)

In my thoughts, the reasons can are quite varied.
a)dynamics of the relationship drastically change
b)mindset of slave changes due to a variety of serious reasons
c)The Master is abusive in a negative way
d) any number of reasons

Yet psychologically, a person's mindseyt is geared to being a slave, then they will always be a slave though maybe not in the literal sense.

S/he is no longer a slave when she asks for release for whatever reason, when the Master/Mistress releases her for whatever reason or death.

I'm going with whenever she or he doesn't feel like one anymore. The only thing that keeps a slave a slave is the desire to be one. If at any point they don't want that anymore they can go as they please. There is nothing legally holding someone in a slave role...not in this country at least.

Makes sense to me. This is why I was confused by the question in the first place.

I identify myself as a slave. But am I not one because I am unowned? I don't think so.

A slave stops being a slave when he/she loses that mindset. Simple.

I agree with LaM on this, maybe our reasons are the same, or not, I'm not sure as to his thought process.

Now, the question is then asked; "what is a girl if she has a slave’s heart then?" She is then in fact simply a submissive female, now, if she acts the part of the slave, she will surely be treated as such and in due course someone will surely help her along in her quest. But simply due to my beliefs and I'm not here forcing them on anyone, merely explaining them, a slave is property and men determine the fate of their property and if a girl is able to tell the man, she is a slave to him, that in my mind would be doing that topping from the bottom. Some are ok with that, many Goreans are not. I would like to point out, not all Goreans believe what I do, and some think all females are slaves, no matter their choice. But, that is a story for another day.

Greetings Master Bull,

We have been around this particular barrell about a thousand times in the Gorean forum and will probably race around it again in the near future. It seems to fairer that since this is a site designed to allow people to meet and hopefully find the person(s) they seek, then the self identification as slave is to let potential Masters know who and what she is. Were this merely and information exchange, she would say FW, because that is what she is.

But lets be realistic, you aren't on CM primarily to read what Leonidas or Rapture have to say. You are here to find a slave. Maybe two or three, and if you had to sort through all the submissive females to find the kajira in the hay stack, you would probably get a little disillusioned and frustrated not having other parameters with which to conduct your search.

Perhaps fairer's alligator size mouth is getting her in trouble again, Master, she does not know. She does ask that we apply a little reason and rationale to the discussion. After all, it is only within the community of believers in Gorean philos that it matters who thinks of her as slave anyway. It's not as if she has "slave" printed on her business card.
