In the interest of clarity and honesty, the expression you want to use is "fancy a fag?"

The arch over the stage at Chicago's venerable Goodman Theater used to say "You yourself must set fire to the faggots which you have brought!"   This led at least one actor to look up, read the line out loud and muse "Tough town, Chicago!"

Ah. Take the dog, and the grandparents, to a public function. Every time the dog lets one out, point at one of the grandparents. If they try to deny it, shake your head tragically and loudly whisper "Ohhhh Daddy/Mom"..... after doing this a few times, explain to them the value of not making your dog a tooter.
