I wouldn't either. I already think people's noses are stuck to far in where they do not belong already.

I'm sorry. I do not like this style. I would not do it.  However, I do not want any type of government to be involved in my closet, my bedroom or anything of that nature.
It is obvious racism.

I was with you right up to that last sentence.  I see it much more as an act of cultural bias than racial.

Pandamonum -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 6:41:06 PM)

I'm ok with that.

Wow...welcome to the 1990s!  Sagging has been popular since rap hit it big in the early 90s.  You know a fashion trend is on the outs when it gets banned...15 years after it began!

Every 20-30 years, fashions flip flop back and forth, and what invariably happens is people complain about the new fashion trend.

Baggy, low riding pants, hip huggers, bell bottoms, capri pants, tight jeans, loose jeans, tie dye, etc.

Far as I am concerned, while I might have particular tastes for this or that, fashions change as a method of rebellion against those who have gone before.

On the other hand, 501s never go out of style, so I got me covered.

Since Hip Hop and Rap started to become popular in poverty striken areas, the pants often sagged because they were hand me downs or from a thrift store. Also, you often bought one size larger for growing kids to make the money go further. I will say this trend, the language associated with it and some of the protocals is a prison culture. The black community is just now seeing the problems and associations it can cause. I like the music when it actually tells a story from the heart, such as Tupac and Eminem, but the emulation of their bad times, should not be encouraged.

The more older people try to stamp out the shifts in culture, the more those shifting the culture will rebel.

It is one of those things that I think people need to just go with and accept as those rebelling doing what
they need to do to find their place in the field, to use a term from the movie "The Legend Of Bagger Vance."

p.s.  That reggae version of the Snoop song "Boyz In The Hood" is an absolute scream.

Another aspect of extremely baggy clothing is that it is much easier to smuggle contraband in them.

I always have to wear baggy pants because otherwise my dick doesn't fit inside.

Still... should a Scottish man decide to wear his family tartan, will he get arrested?

And what's this crap about the clothes having to be appropriate to one's gender?!!!

Holy donkeys.

kittinSol -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 7:38:48 PM)

I suspect that would definitely get me arrested [:-]

kittinSol -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 7:41:54 PM)

Then again... might be quite exciting, to get arrested for offense to the dress code. The array of possibilities makes my head spin: imagine...

One is tottering down the little street in a positively outrageous gettup and... SHIVER!

Cheers.

Lordandmaster -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 7:42:05 PM)

Laugh...guess I forgot to tell you to wear your top too.

domiguy -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 7:54:41 PM)

It's Amazing what will happen if you get a group of middle aged close minded fucks together....Amazing things.  Fox News comes to mind....And laws against butt cracks.  KittinSol better put them tata's away.

gooddogbenji -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 7:57:06 PM)

Is it just me or is this not only petty and ridiculous, but also silly, preposterous, and maligned?

I mean, seriously, someone cares about this enough to lobby for a law?????

GET A FUCKING LIFE, YOU BLAND OLD BASTARDS!!!!!!

Yours charmingly,

benji

Against who? I see tons of white guys doing this and since it applies to women as well... I'd prefer not to flash back to all the "whale tails" I've seen on high school white girls. [:'(]

Edited to add: However, I don't think it should be a fine-worthy offense. I think it would make more sense to make a law allowing places of business to not serve people whose pants aren't pulled up.
