Yep, you are going to see lots of white guys that do it.  They are called wannabe's.  Gangster is cool.  It just is.  I don't agree with it, don't like it, none of that but hey, it is a fact.  These boys like to play as if.  They cannot articulate that they disagree with the White Protestant Work Ethic and they cannot rebel any other way.  They do not know how.  This is how they do so. Therefor, they embody a stereotype.  So, we can skip all of that..............and go to the core, which is racism.
Wanna be black because my white middleclass ass needs to show.

By the same token, I'm not denying that there are white boys that live in areas, just like Blacks and Hispanics for whom adopting that stereotype is necessary for survival purposes, it happens every day.  That means that you have real clothes, but you change them before you go school so that you can make it to the bus stop with out getting you behind kicked.

Since Hip Hop and Rap started to become popular in poverty striken areas, the pants often sagged because they were hand me downs or from a thrift store. Also, you often bought one size larger for growing kids to make the money go further. I will say this trend, the language associated with it and some of the protocals is a prison culture. The black community is just now seeing the problems and associations it can cause. I like the music when it actually tells a story from the heart, such as Tupac and Eminem, but the emulation of their bad times, should not be encouraged.

The more older people try to stamp out the shifts in culture, the more those shifting the culture will rebel.

It is one of those things that I think people need to just go with and accept as those rebelling doing what
they need to do to find their place in the field, to use a term from the movie "The Legend Of Bagger Vance."

p.s.  That reggae version of the Snoop song "Boyz In The Hood" is an absolute scream.

Oh yeah? What if older guys like ME started wearing those big baggy pants with our asses hanging out of them?
Can you picture that, Senior Citizens walking around in big baggy pants?

Pandamonum -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 8:44:33 PM)

That should also include, Black kids and Hispanic kids do the same thing. That just read wrong when I read it.

slaverosebeauty -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 9:01:44 PM)

My jeans end up with baggy at times, its just because when I buy them they fit, then I get my ass in gear and get in shape, then they are too big and won't shrink any more. Give me a month an my jeans will be riding low like those boys. Anyone gonna complain?? {looks around} I don't live in the South so I should be safe.

Consequently, my exhubby use to wear his jeans low {he had spent a LOTof time in prision}, an I 'convinced' him to wear jeans that actually fit, I just offered sex and lots of it, I told him that when he wore jeans that 'fit' I could hardly control myself. It worked. He NEVER wore baggy jeans again, until after we broke up, lol. I did BURN his baggy jeans and use them for rags. [:D]

Laugh...guess I forgot to tell you to wear your top too.

You see, my Lord, how thoroughly I obey you? I went out wearing just a tight pencil skirt and a pair of high heels, I got arrested and had an orgasm in the police car, just because you omitted to tell me to wear a top.

It feels good, to do one's duty [8D]

Lordandmaster -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/14/2007 9:33:14 PM)

Ummm...what was I doing in the police car?

Edited to add: For surely you didn't have an orgasm WITHOUT me.

I wish they'd do this here in Maryland! The worst case of it I have ever seen was at the mall, this guys pants hung under his buttcheeks and everyone could see his YELLOWED briefs with a brown racing stripe up the back. It was disgusting!

{hides my horns} I would do the same thing I consider doing when I see other guys doing it, i think about pulling them down or willign them to fall down.

Yesterday at lunch my betsfriend an I saw a guy who had a BIG hole in his 'saggy pants', yuo could see almost all of his 'skivies' from the back with how low they were and this huge hole, we were 'bad' we talked about, "its a shame that they don't make pants that fit any more or pants without holes, I know that gas is expensive, but I didn't know jeans where. Such a shame."

Business shirts? It's a cute look in bed but I mustn't go into that.

Oh. Do they have double cuffs? Cufflinks? Omg, omg, omg cufflinks make me melt. Purrrr.

caitlyn -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/15/2007 5:28:53 AM)

I'm fine with this law, because it's a local law.

I do think it's a "get a life already" ordinance, but if the majority in that area want it ... then they should vote it in. Those that find the ordinance a hill worth dying on, should work to change it, learn to accept the will of the majority, or move to a "free pants zone."

After all, what do you really want ... a federal regulation outlawing this sort of ordinance?

kittinSol -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/15/2007 5:44:17 AM)

Well, I don't really care if hillbillies have nothing better to do than legislate at a local level over such ridiculous matters. It shows they only have small fish to fry, doesn't it?

What I am grateful for is that it made for a great laugh.

Et voila.

That's "Fashion?"
Walking around looking like you're wearing your father's pants?
They ever hear of a BELT?

They always reminded me of a "full diaper"

I think they should leave the kids alone. It gives us something to laugh at.

philosophy -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/15/2007 9:39:12 AM)

......this whole thread reminds me of when i was a teenager and got into punk music......my mum was ecstatic about it, "At last," she said "some music for kids that I don't like"........she was of the opinion that if kids culture is understandable by adults then it isn't doing its job properly......
