Well, we don't need a federal regulation outlawing this sort of ordinance, because it's probably unconstitutional anyway.  But I doubt anyone is going to wage a crusade over it.

I'm fine with this law, because it's a local law.

I do think it's a "get a life already" ordinance, but if the majority in that area want it ... then they should vote it in. Those that find the ordinance a hill worth dying on, should work to change it, learn to accept the will of the majority, or move to a "free pants zone."

After all, what do you really want ... a federal regulation outlawing this sort of ordinance?

It's funny in general to see people who dressed in pink legwarmers, jackets with supersized shoulderpads and spandex, who wore super pink blush and makeup and had a hair tribute to either Limahl or Flock of seagulls chastising today's youth for their fads.

Never get old, just get older.

Rebeling to an extent is fine, but the community does need to have standards. If someone is always sticking their hands down their pants to pull them up and then preparing food, does that sit well with everyone?

The "appropriate to gender" portion will likely make that law unconstitutional, and is maybe directed at drag queens.

If you allow people to wear something that shows 80% of their under garments then why not allow them to just wear under garments instead of clothes? If undergarments are tight and shear, then why not naked? At some point the community standard is set. If you wish to rebel, then do so but accept the consequences or try to change the standard.

Always amazed me when I was low income growing up, watching all the other people sit around on the front stoops and doing nothing to improve their situation. They just sat around and bitched about all the rich people, got drunk, smoked weed and faded away. Closed minds happen all over.

Most places of business have the right to refuse service, unless it violates civil rights laws. They would have to ban a couple of white guys first, before they ever imposed it on any minorities. Otherwise someone is going to scream discrimination and file a suit.

I'm sorry. I do not like this style. I would not do it.  However, I do not want any type of government to be involved in my closet, my bedroom or anything of that nature.
It is obvious racism.

Against who? I see tons of white guys doing this and since it applies to women as well... I'd prefer not to flash back to all the "whale tails" I've seen on high school white girls. [:'(]

Edited to add: However, I don't think it should be a fine-worthy offense. I think it would make more sense to make a law allowing places of business to not serve people whose pants aren't pulled up.

MstrDouglas -> RE: "Louisiana Town Bans 'Sagging Pants'" (6/15/2007 10:44:30 AM)

It is funny that I came across this today, as I just had an experience yesterday that falls into this thread.  I was standing outside a place of business, talking to another person, and watched another individual walk out of the building.  He got to the edge of the sidewald on the front of the building, lit a cigarette, and proceded to pull his jean shorts down until the waistband was half way to his knees.
Seems the business would not allow him in with them pulled down like that, so he pulled them up like they belonged, went in and did his thing, and pulled them back down once he left.
I really have a problem with it being allowed at all, especially in public, this person deliberately pulled them down until the waist band was almost at the bottom of the legs of his undershorts.  I can remember a time when that would have fallen under the indecent exsposure laws, but I guess those were derermined to be a civil rights violation and have been long forgotten....too bad.
As to keeping the government out of our private lives and homes, if we cant or wont teach others better than what we have been doing......it will happen.

Edited for spelling mistakes, as I know how some hate them

Oh. Do they have double cuffs? Cufflinks? Omg, omg, omg cufflinks make me melt. Purrrr.

I have a pair of cufflinks made from two coins found in a Viking burial site in Jutland.

The first shows a doctor giving a person an enema with a huge wooden plunger thingie.

The second shows the person paying the doctor for his services.

p.s.  Did I just kill the mood?

Yay!

I forgot to mention that the patient in the second cufflink is sitting on a chamberpot.

While the sagging pants thing definitely irritates me, my problem with it is what will come next? Banning v-neck tops that show cleavage? Because let's face it, there are plenty of women who give more than a bird's eye view of the goods in certain tops. I just see it as leading to a downhill slide.. besides..it makes it harder to tell who the idiots are when they wear their pants pulled up..-laughing-
