Wow! I'm toying with the idea of relocating to Ireland for a year. Does Ryan Air fly between England and Ireland? (Republic of, not Northern.)

If you're flying interisland in Hawai`i, it's pretty much de rigueur to have your bags inspected. Not always, but quite often. So for anyone coming to the islands of Aloha, it's a consideration. ;) Also, for any flight leaving any Hawaiian island, you will need to take your shoes off before going through the metal detector - every time.

I did have an experience where, just entering into the security line I was asked if I had anything in my pockets. As I started describing things, I was digging them out of my pockets...coins...some dollar bills...a tampon...once I said tampon, the male security guy urged me on my way...gee, I had no idea men could be so squeamish about those things! *L*

I wholeheartedly agree. Up to that point, I could roll up thirty-five mins before departure, park, and sprint like OJ with the carry-on bag, make it through security and board the plane with ten to fifteen mins to spare. But those days are long gone.....and it's rare that I fly anymore due to that very inconvenience. Before that.... I was on a plane-- for purposes of pleasure-- as much as eight to ten times a year.

I'm averaging about 25 trips per year, and that kind of thing's become a pet peeve of mine. Nothing peeves the TSA folks faster than leaving your computer in your carryon, and bringing a liquid through the detector. Nothing. And it puts a real hurt on the line speed.

I flew the very first morning (arriving at 4:30am) the US instituted the no-liquids rule. Lost my fancy deoderant and the toothpaste. Other folks were almost in tears from losing about 100 bucks in makeup.

This is the bad time of year to travel with the tourists out and about and generally disorganised. Take off all the jewelry, your belt, your shoes, keep the boarding pass handy, bring something like protein bars in case you're stuck on the plane (my personal best is 3.5 hours) and things will go swimmingly.

Worst trip experience was a cancellation at DFW, then making it out to Indy and driving home. Got home at 3am, left at 4:15 am for a vacation flight. Other folks on the trip drove back (800 miles or so).
