Marc2b -> One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/21/2007 10:02:36 AM)

I’ve just finished re-reading the first six books and now I’m counting down the days. I’ve already got a good bottle of wine picked out and have told friends and family that I am not to be bothered on that weekend.

I’m I the only one here who plans to be a recluse when book seven arrives?

I’m also interested in hearing any other’s theories about what will happen in book seven.

For myself, I believe there will come a crucial moment when Harry has to set aside his hatred of Snape and trust Dumbledore’s judgment by trusting Snape. In other words, Snape is still working for the Order even if no one knows or believes it. That his seeming betrayal of Dumbledore was, in fact, part of an already laid out plan – that Dumbledore wasn’t pleading with Snape not to kill him, but in fact to kill him, in order to set certain events into motion.

Whatever the outcome, it will be interesting.

yeah despite the fact that I really don't like Snape that much, part of me is hoping that he will turn out to be a (somewhat.) good guy. After all, he did save Harry once or twice.  I am thinking that possibly Draco will have a change of heart, but probably will not live to see the end of the book.  And being the incurable romantic that I am, I want to Harry and Ginny to get married.  Not sure I want Ron and Hermione to get together though.

feeling extremely impatient for the book to come out!! come on already, Damnit!

I think Snape is the classic case of a bad guy who want’s to be a good guy. Something happened in the past that made him switch sides and convinced Dumbledore that Snap was trustworthy. I hope we find out what it was.

Kudos to Harry and Ginny getting together! After everything that Harry has been (and will be) through, he deserves a little domestic bliss – and a gaggle of red-headed children.

As for Ron and Hermione, they have to get together – they are the Beatrice and Benedick of the wizarding world!

I think I’ve mentioned this on the boards before but it’s worth repeating. Did you ever wonder if a couple of horny Hogwarts students needed a place away from prying eyes, that the Room of Requirement would provide them with a large heart-shaped bed, silk sheets, a bottle of Champagne, and some Barry White music?

Imagine the fun that BDSMers could have with that room.

Ohh I am sure there are a few stories about just that in the slash sites. (slash is fanfiction of a very sexual, perverted nature.) I used to have a few bookmarks of slash sites that had HP stories, don't know where it is!

slaverosebeauty -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/21/2007 12:31:15 PM)

I started rereading the books in order last week, I am on book 4 right now, Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, an my plan is to be done with book 5, {Order of the Phoenix} by the time that movie opens, THEN, read book 6 immediatly afterwards so I can go straight from that one, to book 7 without much pause.

I do NOT like, trust, or believe Snape. After what he did in book 6, he is either the scumball I always thought he was, OR he is one hell of an actor. I want Harry or better yet Neville to get revenge on that scumball. [:D]

Yea for Harry and Ginny getting together, I do understand why they had to 'break' up, but, since they are still friends, maybe their relationship will progress. I can hope.

As for the Durseys, I want things to come to their front door in some way.....

I have a few theories about the 7th book, I won't share them on here becuase I don't want to spoil anything for those who have not read the first 6, if you want to 'HP chat' buzzz me on  the 'Y' slaverosebeauty .

FINALLY people who have read the books, I have wanted to start a thread like this for weeks, but its sooooooo close now.Yea, other people as obesessed as I am, I don't feel so 'weird' now, {giggles}.  I'm off to read book 4.

Buzz me on Y if anyone wants to chat about theories and specualte. [:D]

lighthearted -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/21/2007 1:06:01 PM)

it will be VERY hard for me not to just skip to the last few pages!  fortunately the book arrives the day before my b-day so I will have the perfect excuse to just hole up with my book and bury my nose in it!

calamitysandra -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/21/2007 1:20:26 PM)

I finished my re-reading a week ago, and are now imersing myself in fanfiction of the smutty kind. That should prepare me to dive into an private AU version of book seven if Rowling does something not to my tastes.
As for theories? I have have many. Some elaborate and some simple, some likely and some less. But mostly I do believe that Snape is Dumbledores man. Neither good nor evil, but Dumbledores man all the way. And I fear that Rowling will have him pay his redemption in blood, and kill him.
That will then be the point at which I go into denial, and head to the private little place in which Voldemort dies, Harry lives, Ron gets to be quiddich coach and enjoys the girls (all to get him away from Hermione), Molly learns a lesson, and most importandly, Snape gets to live and have sex with Hermione without comming up for air for about 3 month.
Fortunatly, there are some very well written fanfics out there, so whatever Rowling throws our way, I can get my fix on the net.

acissej -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/21/2007 1:50:41 PM)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is rereading all the books in anticipation!  I'm planning to hold off for another week or two before I start, but I don't know if I'll be able to wait that long.

I wish I could be a recluse the weekend the book comes out, but I have a dratted wedding to go to.  One of my good friends was one of the copy editors on the book, and she is dying to talk about what happened, so I have to read it as soon as possible.  I've been too nervous to speculate with her just in case she lets something slip, but here goes.

I, too, am hoping Snape turns out to be a good guy.  Like Marc, I think Dumbledore was asking Snape to kill him, and Harry and Snape will need to reconcile their differences in order to conquer Voldemort.

I'm not so sure I want Harry and Ginny to get together in the end, nor Ron and Hermione.  I'm torn on whether I think Harry will die.  Part of me thinks Harry will and--dare I say it--should die in order for everything to come full circle, but can J.K. Rowling do that to the children?  That seems cruel.

What does everyone else think on the issue of Harry living or dying?

litleone8620 -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/21/2007 2:02:38 PM)

This is the best thread ever!

I work in a bookstore, so I have debates with customers all the time about Snape, mostly.

Here is my theory: Snape is a good guy. True, he did that thing at the end of book 6. But I honestly believe that was what Dumbledore ulitmately wanted him to do. He (Dumbledore) knew that the whole situation was going to come to that when he sent Snape back under cover for Voldemort.

I've re-read all the books, and am carefully reading book 6 again. I'm paying close attention to the meetings between Dumbledore and Harry; I'm sure there's something there that's going to come into play in book 7. Especially the horcruxes.

My main concern at the moment though, is whether or not Harry is a horcrux

-.- i hate the damn backspace button. Ok  as far as slash stories go, more more and more. Eve after book 7 which i have two delux copies reserved on there will be fanfic for a few more years. just because all the movies are not done and fandoms are slow to die when they are popular. I lvoe just about every HP slash story i have ever read EXCEPT the ones where Snape is gettign a piece from any character i love, in this case all of them. Snape and Harry is just ...ick and Hagrid is too kind a gentle to be stuck with that soupuss.  Just about every male/male paring you can imagine can be found. From harry sandwhiched between the twins to Lupin and Malfoy, the younger and older btw. If anyone gets curious sm me a pm and i'll pass alogn some linsk to save you the time of searchign through many a search engine. There are even a few with a bdsm flavor to them, many of the being Harry abd Lord Moldybutt

As for book 7, i wouldn't put anythign past snape and i proudly carry my Snape FOE card from waldens. Its possible he has some good in him but even still i think some things go to deep and he has fostered his anger towards the mauraders unpon Harry and company. Hell who knows maybe he'll see the light at the end and ssave harry.

MadameMajidah -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/21/2007 3:54:23 PM)

OMG. OMG. O. M. G. /Slash/.. is sooo very wonderful. Ive read soo many pairings lately. Ive been wishing to grow a penis for christmas and move to diagon alley for two months now!!!!
-Snape is Good.
-Anyone have theories on RAB?? Regulus Black?

I personally am a big fan of evil dumbledore...but... JK just wouldnt do that to us
Although, theres a story i read.. DD didnt crush the Philosopher's stone, and Voldemort killed his wife..which is the only reason why he wanted to go after him
Speaking of Voldie... Did anyone else catch this?
Tom and Harry Are both nearly identical to their fathers in looks. (minus harry's eyes)
Both half bloods. Both left in similar situations growing up. Personally, this one adds to my dumbledore is evil theory. DD is an accomplished Leglimens, he can get into the mind of nearly ANYONE. .. including tom riddle at a young age. And Harry. so... why didnt he step in.. when he figured out what was going on instead of turning a blind eye.
Anyone a fan of the Lily/Snape friends/lovers thing??
Meh.. who knows... We should hold a midnight BDSM only party in the Room of Requirement... OMG!! Party Idea!!! Woooot!!!
Time to plan!!!! Anyone have ideas??? Im throwin a party!!!

CrimsonMoan -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/21/2007 4:45:38 PM)

Welll other than a mass of people and a velvet rope and guest list what more would we need? The room would provide everything. And i just went to look for a site and of course its down which means i will have to hunt down certain stories if they are archived elesewhere. [:(] and i know most slash fans are squicked by MPREG, but damnit if it doesn't make me feel just a bit better readign about men goign through what every female has and will go through possibly. You want one that wll blow you're mind look up brother were art thou ron/draco lucius/whatever the fuck ron's dad's name which escapes me at the moment. Interestign plot twist.

Mpreg leavs room for plenty of twist and turns liek Harry being james and sirius' son and lily just a cover to protect the boy. I say if you are willign to read slah you must open your mind to the possibility of male pregnancy ESPECIALLY in a world of magic :P

Is this J.K. Rowling any good?

I'm familiar with the 3 DOZEN BOOKS of Terry Pratchett's work, are these anything similar?

Wouldn’t it be a rip if Harry and Voldermort have their final showdown in the Dursley’s living room.

The evercunnilingus potion. Allows a man to go down on a woman without coming up for air.

I don’t know if it is true or not but I heard somewhere that J.K. mentioned the possibility of Harry dying – but you’re right, I don’t think she would do that to the kids.

Whoa! There’s a plot twist I hadn’t thought of! I hope not though – I want a happy ending.

Yup. Harry and Voldemort are piratically mirror images of each other. I believe that J.K. is making the point that being good and being evil are choices we make. Harry could have easily gone down the same path as Tom Riddle – but he chose not to.

AND

Although I came down on the Dom side of things, something tells me that Hermionie would make one hell of a Donamatrix.

Hmmmm... looks like somebody hit you with a confundis charm. Either that or else you have been living under a rock... in a cave... on Mars.

Who the hell is Terry Pratchett?

I have a sticker on the back of my laptop that says, "Snape Is A Very Bad Man,"  but I'm not necessarily sticking by that.  I want him to be a bad guy in that I dislike his character, but I want Dumbledore to still be alive, so it's a tough call.  At heart, I think it was a scheme and Dumbledore's not really dead, or that he is, in fact, deceased and he'll become a ghost and live at Hogwarts anyway once evil is vanquished.  On the one hand, JK Rowling won't want to terribly piss her readers off by having really killed off Dumbledore, but on the other hand, her books have been getting exponentially darker with each one, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if she killed him off but tossed us a crumb or two in the way of Dumbledore becoming a ghost at the school.

I'm dressing up with a few of my friends and going to the release party.  Copious amounts of alcohol will probably ensue after the event.

I think Harry will live; but I almost want him to die. Just so Rowling won't get bothered with writing more.

My main concern at the moment though, is whether or not Harry is a horcrux

quote:

I honestly believe Harry is a Horcux. It'll come down to him and Voldemort, and by that time, Harry'll know he's one (if he is), and he'll have to destroy himself.

Anyway, I don't want to spoil anything. If you want to discuss HP, feel free to message me on the other side. I could talk about it for days.

All I know is that I absolutely can't wait for the book to come out, and we'll finally know what happens.
