My main concern at the moment though, is whether or not Harry is a horcrux

OK...gotta throw this out there. If Harry is a Horcrux, then why the hell does Voldemort keep trying to kill him? Wouldn't that be self-defeating?

I thought the Harry Potter series were children's books. My nieces are really into them, they are 10 and 12.

Nope...I'm 19 and I read them. My dad is 45 and he reads them. They're really good stories. Rowling writes so vividly, you can really picture yourself there.

By the way, I heard the last word in the last book is "scar".

I do hope that Dudley gets his in the end, that pig.

He'll be to busy stuffing his face in front of the TV (oops, I mean the telly) to get his (I, on the other hand, am more sophisticated - I stuff my face while reading a book).

Amen to that. Or while playing video games-but then the controller gets all greasy.

Ok, first, I don't believe it's logical for Harry to be a horcrux. Keep in mind that each horcrux contained 1/7 of Voldemorts soul, and each horcrux had to be prepared to accept that portion of soul. V's purpose in going to the Potters that night was to kill Harry, not make a horcrux out of him. Each horcrux has to be destroyed to finally get rid of V. Also, remember the prophesy. Neither can live while the other survives. For Harry to be a horcrux and 'live' defeats the purpose of V trying to live forever since he would want, above all, the horcrux's protected, not destroyed and he did try to kill Harry in Goblet of Fire. That doesn't make sense if Harry is a horcrux.

EXACTLY! Thank you!

I think Aunt Petunia is probably a witch who refused to accept/exert her powers. I do think she'll play a larger part in the final book especially since 'home' with the Dursley's is what's kept Harry alive all these years and might even come up with a spell or two at a critical juncture. Harry has his mothers eyes.. and I'm wondering if Auntie Petunia doesn't have those same eyes as well.. and if so, where did those two ladies get those eyes? hmmmmmm.. in OOTP, it was made pretty clear that most wizarding families were connected in some way or another so that's something that's made me think, but I don't have any theory on it. I'll just say that it wouldn't surprise me if Harry were related to a prominant family.. or two.

In OotP, it was said "For the first time, Harry could truly appreciate that Aunt Petunia was his mother's sister. Aunt Petunia's eyes, so large and pale unlike his mother's...." So no, I'm betting that they don't have the same eyes. Which leads to the question: What is so special about Lily's eyes? In every book, someone mentions to Harry "You have your mother's eyes" at least once. I think Harry is a direct desendent of Gryffindor on James' side and a direct desendent of Slytherin on Lily's side. Those "brilliant green" eyes would fit right in inside Slytherin. However, Snape did call Lily a 'Mudblood' in the Pensive. I don't think all Slytherins are pure-blood-there aren't that many left. Like Aurthur said "If we hadn't married Muggles we'd have died out." I think a lot of them are just faking it.....look at "Mr. Pure-bloods only" himself-Lord Voldemort. And he is a half-blood.

quote:

Albus is dead. I cried, but he's dead. ::sniff:: Standard hero/mentor fare that one.

I was sad when Dumbedore died, but I'm all for the ghost theory. I wonder if we tossed him behind that archway, if Harry would hear him again. Like Luna said "They're not dead-just out of sight."

quote:

RAB - unless they are introducing a new character with those initials, I think it has got to be Sirius' brother. I'm not as convinced that Sirius is dead given that Harry heard voices behind the curtain which Sirius fell through. Maybe in another dimension or something, so we may see him resurface. (I can always hope!) I'm pretty convinced we'll be taken back to the Ministry of Magic in Book 7.

Could be part of Scrimigor's name too....

quote:

Snape might die protecting Draco and I do think one of the DA is going to die. I'm hoping it's not Ron or Hermione, possibly Neville jumping in the line of fire when Harry is about to get it (that Neville kid has some courage that's been a bit underplayed) but one of Harry's friends is sure to die. *snipped*

There's a reason while Neville was put in Gryffindor.....

OMG! I have this wild theory about Lily, Dumbledore, James, and Lupin! It's crazy but it makes sense! Message me on Yahoo at demonofthenight18 and let's chat HP!

I’ve just finished re-reading the first six books and now I’m counting down the days. I’ve already got a good bottle of wine picked out and have told friends and family that I am not to be bothered on that weekend.

I’m I the only one here who plans to be a recluse when book seven arrives?

This sounds like me regarding the previous books.  [:D]

*sighs*  But I have been so far from the "fandom" for the past year or so that I've lost passion for the series.  I didn't even know exactly when book 7 was scheduled to be released other than sometime this summer.  In some ways it feel like I've lost a best friend.

lol... That is so sad.

I really need to reread the books and recapture my interest before the last one is released.  I barely remember what was in Half Blood Prince... I've only read it one time compared to the dozens of times I've read each of the others.

Maybe once it's all done I might find it in myself to finish my own story.  I feel horribly guilty as I've left countless readers dangling for two years.  It's a wonder I still get mail begging me to continue.

Care to share some enthusiasm?  [;)]

kinkychild18, please use a different colour font, its difficult to read.

Harry may be an 'accidental' Horcrux. Voldemort didn't kill Harry but, we do KNOW that he transfered some of his powers to Harry, so why is it not possible that Voldemort accidently made Harry one?! Also, it would be self-diestructing, but for Harry, he can potentially absorb MORE of Voldemort's powers and becoem a stronger wizard than Voldemort himself.

The more I reread the books {in book 4 right now, just after the 2nd task} the more 'clues' I see or become aware of for the next books.

From what has been 'leaked' the last word is 'scar.' The endless speculation as to what proceeds that is mind numbing.

O and one more thing.... Rowling herself, has said that Harry will NOT become an animagus. You can check out her website.... www.jkrowling.com It has a bunch of rumors that she talks about.

Bummer!  Ever since book four I've presumed Harry would become an animagus.

Actually, it will be revealed in book seven that Voldemort's true ambition was to work for the Republican National Committee.

Hey, Voldy is British!  I think it will be revealed that for years he had Thatcher (is she still alive?, I can't remember) under the imperious curse.

I've actually read all but the last book you mentioned - but you got me thinking about it just so I can catch up on the little details that you miss - or forget -the first time around.  The first time I read book five, I didn't pick up that the bartender was Dumbledore's brother.  The second time, having read all of the books in rapid succession, I did pick up on it (the "smell of goats" tipped me off).

I wouldn't be surprised if that last book was selling well right now but I might check out Amazon (I should buy stock in that company).

As for the movie, While I love going to live theater, I hate going to the movie theater.  I'll watch it - once it comes out on DVD.

I like to play games like Civilization and Age of Empires, but you're right - it is hard to conquer the world when you fingers messy.

Are you a published author? I didn’t know. Well, I love to read and I would like to read what you’ve written so I can check it out. If you are published, then you're doing better as a writer than me. I love to write and I start lot’s of stories (both BDSM and non-BDSM) – I just never finish them. I guess you could say that I am a squib in the writing world.

Same here Marc2b.  It is hard summoning up the energy to sit down and do it!

calamitysandra -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/23/2007 2:31:37 PM)

Sorry for the confusion where the colour of the spell was concerned. That happens when I am too tired to go check the facts after reading something. Gah!
But I did take the time and found the interview in which Rowling all but confirmed that RAB is indeed Regulus Black. It was the one with Emerson and Melissa (Mugglenet and Leaky Cauldron).
http://www.mugglenet.com/jkrinterview.shtml
The part about RAB can be found on the second page, about 1/3 down.

Just HP fanfiction.  [;)]

I love to write, I just don't have a lot of inspiration.  And yes, it does take a lot (especially if it's long) to stick with one and finish it.

Exactly!

Ok, so lets say, for speculation sake, that Voldemort knows Harry is a horcrux. Voldemort doesn't know that other people know of them, so he wouldn't worry about killing off one, right?

And I love the mugglenet.com. it's an excellent resources for HP theories.

ManInTheBox -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/23/2007 9:45:02 PM)

I think Harry being a horcrux would be a very fitting end to the book. I also believe that Cedric Diggory is going to play a role in this book again and Rowling said Aunt Petunia would too. There's probably something totally outrageous going on with her

Do you share your writing with anyone?  I've found that it helped me to work with someone.  Having a sounding board helped to keep things fresh and interesting by giving me an outside perspective and having someone to actually discuss your story ideas with.

My problem is that a couple of years ago I got distracted by real life... going through a divorce and getting my affairs back in order.  Now that I could write again, I find myself almost paralyzed with the fear that I'll not be able to find that "space" again and that I won't be able to live up to what I was able to do before.  Of course, I know that I need to just try, but it's really easier said than done.

slaverosebeauty -> RE: One Month to Harry Potter, Book Seven! (6/23/2007 9:51:58 PM)

Diggory died, remember in book 4, I'm rereading it now and I already have tissues ready. I don't read anything about HP outside of these boards and a few IM conversations, I would rather let my mind go and NOT get any spoilers, that ruins the surprise.

HP is like crack, its addicting.

I can't wait to see the 5th movie this summer. then read the half-blood prince quickly so i can jump into book 7.
