Would you rather be loved, respected or feared?

Choose as many as you like and rank in order of importance.

Do you just tell them to call you by your first name then?

I don't like being called "ma'am" for the same reason.  lol

I'd prefer to be feared, as in god-fearing; revered, which would include love and respect.  So, all three!  Do I have to choose??

szobras -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (6/26/2007 6:01:25 PM)

1. Loved
2. Respected

Google it. ;-)

You've probably seen a movie based on the life of the originl quoter.. if not, and you want to see Marina Sirtis' breasts and/or Malcolm McDowell fist someone using butter for lube, that's the one for you. ;-)

Interesting question, I think I agree that love and respect go hand and hand.

lighthearted -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (6/26/2007 6:33:20 PM)

loved, with respect.
then just respected.  then I wouldn't need to be feared, not that I care to anyway.

Vendaval -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (6/26/2007 7:14:24 PM)

I believe that respect is the foundation for love.  I respect and admire a great many people and care about them.
But a deep, personal love is a separate and special experience.

Fear is not what I normally hope to install in others.  However, when dealing with a malicious or menancing person(s),
fear is a useful emotion in one's arsenal.

Lashra -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (6/26/2007 7:20:47 PM)

Respected and loved by my sub. Toss in trusted and its a perfect mix as far as I am concerned. I would never want him to fear me as I see that could be detrimental to the relationship.

loved, cherished and respected.....

persiphone -> RE: Would you rather be loved, respected or feared? (6/26/2007 7:54:07 PM)

for me it is loved, respected....i never wish to be feared, i see that as a sign of miscommunication most times. If i had to choose others, remembered, mentioned earlier is good as well.

Caligula, but I think you meant to say Helen Mirren.

"Let them hate, so long as they also fear."

Love and respect are intertwined for me.
There are times when being feared is desirable.
