My last thread on Closet BSDM Precautions brought this one to mind.

Have you ever been caught off guard when someone saw a mark and had to come up with an explanation?

Here's my story.  I'd been to a spring retreat for the weekend with my local group.  My mom came to visit and I forgot I had a big round bruise on my back from cupping.  I wore a sundress and my mom asked about it.  My explanation?..... I told her that I'd been in a pool with a home made filtering system and got sucked into the intake pipe.

Please share any wacky explanations you've come up with.

My dog punched me in the eye.

No joke. I really didn't have time to think xD They didn't buy it, but they stopped asking.

I had bruises on my shoulder from being held down against the wrong part of a wooden floor. A friend saw it and asked what happened, I replied, "Slipped on the ice and landed on a shovel." >_> I don't know if the believed it or not...

Hm.  So saying "yeah my husband gives me a few whacks every now and then.  But it's fine, I like it" might actually be a good tack to take.

I usually tell people it's from parkour (freerunning). It sort of stops working when I've got rope sized "bracelets" aroung my wrists though... For obvious stuff, I just have to say "uhhhhhh" until it dawns on them and they stop asking.

You know, I've never used any explanation other than looking them in the eye and saying "Hot date". More often than not it shuts them up immediately. I have some annoying in-laws who might make a thing about teasing my wife, but they're so clueless they haven't really noticed anything on the rare occasions we've wound up playing around right before one of the big family holidays. I'd probably still just say something to the effect of "hot date" or "we were getting a little frisky last night" - the way I see it, you can't shame the shameless.

One day I got a migraine so bad I had to go to the doctor to get a shot. I had fierce whip marks all down my back and across my butt, where the jab had to go. I muttered something about gravel rash from falling off my motorbike, but I doubt I was believed. These days I usually tell the truth with a wicked grin from ear to ear, and the reaction is "yeah, right!"

THAT is excellent. im going to use it for any mark on my body because its so brilliant.

I unfortunately dont get people asking me what happened. They just go 'wah hey hey hey hey!!!!!!!!1 who was the lucky person?!??!!?' it takes all the fun out of it. apart from i seem, to my friends, have alot more sessions than i actually do, due to me being a bit of a clutz sometimes. Innocent marks are given a imaginary story by friends.

My friend panicked when confronted by her parents about a mark on her neck she didn't realise she had and said "I got bitten by an ant"...

lol...recently I had a bruise on my arm - genuinely acquired when I was moving all my stuff out of my room at school and I sideswiped the bar on the outside door. My Dad made some comment as to "Tell your boyfriend to quit beating you." I thought I'd quip back (because between my father and I, one never just lets these things go - it's a bad case of oneupmanship, but we have a great time doing it) "If you think this one's bad, you should see the bruises on my ass!" (there were no bruises on my ass - at that point). My dad just nodded and said "well, knowing you, you probably deserved them. Tell R I said 'good job'..."

He got me on that one. I couldn't do a damn thing other than laugh. On my dad's part, he was gleeful. He finally shut me up.

i'm one of those people who's fairly accident prone, so when i tell someone who knows me that i fell down the steps or something of that nature, they normally believe me *mixed blessing*, lol. There's only been one time it's been iffy, one side of my face was red and the other wasn't -laughs- my excuse was sunburn from driving....

I love when Mistress bites me and leaves a trail of bruises.   They are round in shape, so I simply tell them, "fielding practice...I love baseball."   Or as someone mentioned previously, tell them the truth, which I did once.  Amazing how people will find the truth so unbelievable.  I mean, after you tell a friend the line of bruises on my chest, shoulder, and arm were put there by someone's teeth, and they don't believe it, what can you possibly tell them to top that?

I frequently notice a bruise with no idea what happened, rather klutzy alas, so if someone does ask I just go " I have a bruise? Where?". Being obviously clueless works also.

this is why i took up playing rugby ... that and my first real play partner was the team coach.

bruises = tough tackle
scratch marks = tough maul/ruck
bite marks = really tough maul/ruck
rope burn = really tight binding for the scrums
crop/cane marks = line out bruising (only works on thigh marks though)

I have quite a good cover in that my work friends think that I am a total prude so the mere thought of me engaging in any kind of sexual activity that would result in physical markings would leave them hysterical - there is much debate apparently among my male co-workers on if i am still a virgin or not (roflmfao) . My closer friends, and the girls i play sprots with, dont know the deatils of what i do - but they guess at it. In vanilla life i am quite a dominant character so most of them would laugh if they found out i was submissive.

lol, well I am not accident prone enough that people would believe that.  I hope people come up with some more interesting stories that I could possibly borrow from.

If necessary, I advise the use of the phrase

bedroom brawl

and usually tell them there were three of them who jumped me.

It is most often taken as being ridiculous.
Someday it may be true, who knows.

But then,  the explanations are almost never about me.
