I've been quite amused by the television advertisements for The Cold Stone Creamery.  The problem is....it's done too good a job in the sense that I am sooooo wanting some! I've actually never been to one before but they do look yummy! For the last several weeks, I've been doing quite well in the eating department and I haven't really had a quite as bad a craving as I've had now. Most of the time they don't last long and I get over it. But this is baaaad!

I'm so close to caving. Any words of encouragement are very much appreciated. :)

The secret ingredient used to stiffen the icecream is bat vomit.

Glad to be of assistance,

Their sweet cream with cherries and fudge is the best!!!!
Sorry for not being able to help with your cravings.
My best advice is to go find a store near you and enjoy.

I'm not a fan, it tastes too much like Coffee-Mate for me.  but if you are craving it that bad, you should just have it and get it out of your system, instead of trying to be satisfied with something else.

smilezz post made me feel better...the idea it doesn't taste that great....until I read Aileen's!!!! Geez, thanks Aileen!!!

I kinda agree with lighthearted, except I've never been to a Cold Stone Creamery! I'm just imagining it based on how good the stuff in the commercial looks!

*LOL*

OMG...a friend I haven't heard from in a while contacted me and I turned the t.v. volume down whilst talking to her. I think I must have inadvertently changed the channel at the same time. And what's on, during the entire time I'm talking to her????? A show called "Scoop"! About ice cream! With Haagen Dazs logos everywhere and all this frickin' yummy looking ice cream! Argghhh!! The universe is conspiring to toruture me.

Earlier this evening I thought I was doing soooo well. I went to the grocery store to pick up a few items. Do you know what is RIGHT beside the grocery store???? A Cold Stone Creamery!!!!!! AND....there were NO customers in it! I could have gone in and been served before I had a chance to change my mind. But I thought to myself "no...nope...just get home and you won't have to think about it.". Then I see all that ice cream on the Food Network.

*sighs*

Cold Stone is good if you have a serious sweet tooth.  They add candy to the mix as you stand there.  Then ask you how much candy you want added to it.

Ice cream wise aside from being relatively soft because of mixing it....about the same as anywhere else.
It is super premium which means lots of fat and calories.  You'd be better to go with ice milk and add candy.

I am an admitted icecream junkie .
IMO Cold Stone Creamery is not worth the drive or the money. The quality of the ice cream is just... okay. I'd rather have a gallon of low fat icecream in my freezer with fun stuff on hand to add. Some of the low fat products are fannnnnntastic!

They sing when you put something in the tip jar...

And im fortunante (unfortunante?) to have one within walking distance...and its honestly cheaper than dairyqueen and IMHO much better. So we give in and have it occasional. Expecially if you are trying to fight the craving because you are on a diet...DONT, its much better to give in to the craving and do it responsibly than to hold it in and give up in a month and binge. Get a small size cup, not the waffle cone, and go for it.

Cold Stone is ok but I'm not an authority on ice cream. It's horrifyingly expensive, and since the only time I go out to get ice cream is with the UM's, I avoid it and typically wind up at good ol' baskin robbins instead.

The UM's love the idea of ice cream but rarely eat more than a half-dozen bites. If I spend $10 for two cones (the servings are huge) I feel compelled to eat what they would throw away ... so ... really ~really~ bad idea for me to go there.

I had never heard of Cold Stone Creamery. The name sounds like a morgue. It might make for a terrific horror movie. The name reminds me of that TV show, Six Feet Under.

well, since there is no minimum RDA established for bat vomit, it might be the  business name is prophetic in some fashion.

I make my UM's share a dish, and me and the hubby share one too. Gets rid of the craving without being to darn expensive and doesnt put anyone into a sugar coma either.

I've found that the best ice creams come from local mom and pop places who make it right on site with cream from the dairy down the road. Now granted, I live in PA where dairy farms abound.

OMG Coldstone is the BEST BEST BEST!  It's like the Tiffany's of ice cream.

Do NOT go expecting an ordinary sundae or banana split.  Don't take kids- while they may have some kid specific things, kids just won't appreciate the fun and variety- just take them to McDs for a dollar sundae and they will be just as happy.

There are three sizes to ice creams- like it, love it and gotta have it.  That is how you order.  95% of the time when you order a like it, they will over size it and put it in the "love it" bowl- still only charging for the like it size.

You can also order a waffle cone- plain, chocolate dipped, chocolate dipped with nuts, or chocolate dipped with sprinkles.  I always just go with the cup.

Onto the ice cream- they have several "signature creations" which are things every store knows to make and had a great combo of flavors.  Usually it involves one flavor ice cream and 3 mix-ins.  A mix-in is anything you want to add to the ice cream- yellow cake, caramel topping, whipped cream, fruit, candy, etc.

You can make your own "creation" by picking an ice cream and adding your own mix-ins, but tends to be a little more expensive.

They have milkshakes and smoothies which are awesome as well.

What really gives COldstone its great taste is the mix process- they get a small ball of the ice cream, smash it down by hand, pile on the mix ins, and then fold it and mix it together with ice cream spades.  Some are better at this than others, but if you let them know you are a first timer and really like things mixed well, they put some extra into it.

And you get to watch the whole process so you can make sure you get everything you want.

Sometimes they sing if you give a tip or request it.

Maybe it appeals to the kid in me or the spoiled princess, and the flavors there really just do rock and kick ass of any otherp lace I've been (including Amy's Ice Cream which can kiss my ass), and having a cup of a freshly mixed creation I just requested is awesome.

Oh and they'll give you a free small sample of anything you ask for.
