Using the term "boy" for a slave goes back at least as far as classical Greece where males slave were routinely called "puer" which means "boy". It's the same when a person in BDSM might call their female slave "girl". It recognizes status; it is not belittling unless you want it to be. Fox loves it when I say "good boy" or even when I call him "foxboy".

I think for me it all depends on who is using the term. If someone I don't belong to or submit to calls me "girl" in a derogatory way, it really ticks me off. On the other hand, to hear the term "girl" roll of the tongue of the male/female that I am submitting to is one of the sweetest and most erotic sounds in the world.

I never knew this was common practise either until I met my current Mistress. She tends to use the term more in writing than in speech. Although I'm definitely part PETER PAN, I don't feel really feel like a boy either, except maybe when I'm with her. When we're together, its often like we regress back into childhood playing games forgetting about the larger world and its attendant responsibilities.

Women email me out of the blue and call me "boy" as if I somehow belong to them. It usually bugs me, and it may cause me to never respond to the person at all. What I have noticed is that often it is one of those many "Tell me more about yourself, boy" one liners I get from women who I don't know anything about and, thus, have no reason to tell them more about myself in the first place.

Amayos: A man yields serves and/or defers but I fail to find a lessoning in the quality of his content, physical strength, courage, determination and or a diminishing in the dedications and commitments that brought himto manhood. Calling him a boy, neither insults nor diminish him. Its simply a word.

This was years ago though. Exposed the problem with looking at only the law to determine the rights of women in the ancient world. Right now all my Greek and Latin is focused on Amazon issues anything else becomes outside my ready reach. That's why I'm a historian and not a classicist.

While I know many desire to "desexualize" these words, I can't help but feel many who reverse and apply terms traditionally used for women upon men do so with the intent to demean twice. It does make me sometimes wonder what is being indirectly said of women in these cases. Nonetheles, I find it tragic we don't have widely used terms specific to lowering the male sex in our language. In order to do this, we often need to get "creative."
