I usually just don't jump at the first explanation given....Unless it makes my Democratic brothers and sisters shine....lol.

It will be easy to know what happened soon enough.  If nobody else ever hears a word of it, AQI did it.  If it can somehow be blamed on Bush, we'll have every grisly detail.

See?  Now my bias is showing [8|]

farglebargle -> RE: Iraqi Village Slaughtered (7/4/2007 11:41:21 AM)

Well, if they were Kurds, then it was the Turks, wasn't it?

Sinergy -> RE: Iraqi Village Slaughtered (7/4/2007 11:51:41 AM)

Lets see.

An Iraqi unit, paid in US dollars to fight Al Qaeda, convinces an American unit with an embedded reporter to go visit a destroyed village.

They take pictures of bodies and destruction.

They tell the reporter it was "Al Qaeda" who did it.

The reporter writes down what he is told.

Some people read the blog and immediately believe it.

Guess I am a bit skeptical of what he was told, and not willing to run and lap up at the teat of the Al Qaeda boogy man.  What actual evidence was the reporter provided that Al Qaeda was involved?

Did they do forensic analysis of the weapons used to kill the people?  Do they have fingerprints?  Was it a similar high-tech forensic work as utilized by the LAPD when Nicole Brown Simpson was found dead of knife wounds?

But if it works for you, OP, I say go with it.  I do have a lovely bridge

Yeah.  They'll be seeking the death penalty in that case.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Federal prosecutors filed notice Tuesday that they will seek the death penalty if former soldier Steven D. Green is convicted of killing an Iraqi family and raping a 14-year-old girl.

The notice, filed in U.S. District Court, cites 12 alleged offenses related to the slayings in the March 2006 slayings in the town of Mahmoudiya, including that the deaths were premeditated, involved sexual abuse and were committed with a firearm.

Interesting take, Sinergy.  Of course, I have no inner need to justify my actions and words by believing Al Queda is nowhere near as bad an American soldier or Republican...

Would some ancient tribal thing require booby-trapping the houses and carcasses of the livestock?  Mining the road?  Would the "Hatfieds" to the dead "McCoys" have the equipment and skills to pull it off?

Or is it some grand conspiracy, launched from Dick Cheney's super-secret office, to turn the tide of American opinion?

<sarcasm>
The story should be spiked, of course.  God forbid we should just use Occam's Razor to get the first report out, and then let the reporters with resources go investigate.  If it doesn't fit the paradigm, it cannot be true.

So what evidence did you see in those little write ups that it was alqada?

Had to be right?

Did it make you all emotional and want to cry?   Did it shut the scrutinizing part of the brain off so the emotion takes over?  Did you get those lets kick their asses feelings?  Look see those bad guys are at it again!

Well thats exactly what its supposed to do!

Hey, Real.  Nice of you to join those who are having a knee-jerk denial about what we are dealing with in the world.  "Just like 9/11..."

Now if only we could get somebody who insists that anti-war protesters burning a US flag must be right-wing agitators.

yah well not to forget that according to the constitution we have the right to do that and of course according to nixon(a republican) we will be jailed for exactly that.

Oh yes that nagging reality how everthing on that day "just happened" to slip through the cracks.  It seems to me i just said you were in denial in my last post.  you were notably quiet in my 911 threads.

Oh yeh and i think its really interesting too btw how you would label everyone who does not buy into this at face value as "knee jeark" when the whole freakin thing is designed to promote a knee jerk response from those who do.  (like you)

Where i come from they label that the pot calling the kettle black...  well unless you feel knee jerk is someone who requires evidence before waving the flags and dropping nukes.

TheHeretic -> RE: Iraqi Village Slaughtered (7/4/2007 4:29:55 PM)

If by "quiet" you mean that I dismiss your 9/11 theories and links as bullshit and crackpottery, not worth the electricity to view, then yeah, I'm quiet on your 9/11 threads.  I looked at those theories and found zero credibility to the proponents.

Yes.  I do consider the rush to deny the simplest and most obvious explanation as "knee-jerk."  And I believe I indicated I thought the story deserved to be looked at by more media outlets.

As far as I can tell, Al Qaeda didn't invade a Sovereign Nation, and remove the Lawfully Elected Government, thereby causing all the grief we see today.

So, we're back to prosecuting Bush for his alleged violations of 18 USC 371...

I am not trashing american soldiers or Republicans, except a tangential comment about the current administration that happens to be Republican, TheHeretic.

Simply pointing out that the Al Qaeda connection the current administration keeps brandishing is strikingly similar to the approach they used to prove the presence of weapons of mass destructions.  We all know how that turned out.

Could just be people blowing each other up with no Al Qaeda involvement at all, but I find it fascinating that some people flock to the torches and pitchforks of the Al Qaeda witch hunt.

I expect people to use their brains, intelligence, and research into valid empirical information, rather than their emotional knee-jerk reactions, but I suggest you go with what works best for you.

Since you did such a nice job of not answering the simple question of whether the "Hatfields" could have access to the equipment to booby-trap the village, and the know-how to do it themselves, I'll suggest you possibly consider taking your own fucking advice.

I am not sure who the Hatfields are, please clarify and let me know as I have not seen any links related to Iraq that concern anybodies named Hatfields.

A few weeks ago I posted a couple of links to source materials which pointed out that one thing Saddam Hussein had done after the Iran / Iraq war was to spread military weaponry far and wide, and then upgraded it all when the US was gearing up for war.  The United States Military made the fatal error of not doing anything to catalog it, guard it, and prevent it falling into the hands of insurgents.  So basically we have a well trained (in insurgency) insurgent army that is also well supplied with all sorts of weaponry that the administration failed to take into consideration and plan for.

Interestingly enough, the Clinton administration BRIEFED the president and his staff on the presence of all this stuff while turning over the office.  But, as many of the Right Wingerrs keep pointing out, Clinton = All Bad, All The Time.  So obviously his recommendation that an invading army into Iraq do something about the weaponry was a crappy idea.

Feel free to go review the links I previously posted.

Sinergy

p.s.  See, I already did follow my fucking advice.

farglebargle -> RE: Iraqi Village Slaughtered (7/4/2007 5:56:14 PM)

I would think that's more a case of they "couldn't" rather than "wouldn't".
