Haha, my husband is now a cat convert thanks to me. He had nothing but disdain for felines until he let me adopt one, now whenever we go to PetSmart, he can hardly stay away from them. =) As for the caretaking, our 2 cats and one Belgian Sheepdog mix are our furry babies. They get lavished with love and attention from the both of us. We're planning on getting a rat for my son this Christmas, but that'll be his responsibility. Really, though, if I had my way, we'd have a zoo.

In My house there are 2 dogs, a 90 pound choc. lab and a 165 pound english mastiff, and one cat who is scared of her own shadow. She loves sitting on the dogs which quite a site to see. -LordVelvet

We have a nice little beagle, ten month old. We bought him from a breeder, as I have had some really sad experience with dogs from shelters. He is for sure the best thing which has happened to us in recent times. However, be aware of that dogs of any kind and especially beagles need space and time. And be prepared that your private life can sometimes get a bit confused by the dog, e.g. when he simply wants to be part of the play (wowww licking boots can be sooo much fun) or cannot stand to be put aisde when it gets too exciting. We share the responsibility for him, and D/s or not, there is no other way to have animals in a household than that all parts agree and are prepared to take their share. Uniform

none of the pet stores around here sell puppies, but they do have adoption days, where the local animal shelter brings pets that are up for adoption..... its coming up on a week since i had to have my best bud put to sleep, and im still crying a lot, but i told my son i think i want another dog soon........i cant replace my razor, but puppy love is so good for the soul.......and ill be going to the local pound soon, looking for my next furbaby to love......

I had a cat but when I moved in with Master I was not allowed to keep him, it was one of the hardest things i've ever had to do but I entrusted him in the care of my brother and now only get to see him when I go visit :(

i can't post the rainbow bridge story cause just thinking about it makes me well up with tears...but it is very special when you're mourning your furbabies...if you need a pick me up good cry, i would suggest finding it... my 14 year, old fixed since she was 6 months old, female cat has started spraying...one spot specifically the counter where the microwave is...which is just across from the kitchen side of the counter...she's taken to wanting to sleep on the kitchen counter or cutting board so we have been throwing her out, and she shows us her opinion...this counter is her property...and we follow along behind her with clorox spray and clean it up...don't know what, if anything, there is to do about it...but no, you're not alone...she has done this before now that i think about it, when we brought Angel and Demon home...she wasn't happy then either... aaaand out family has a new edition...William...William Snakespear...he's a pretty lil ball python...i am excited...going to pick him up in a few minutes... one to beam chelle

it's amazing some of the connections that different animals make with each other.....my sister inherited the family cat when my parents got jobs trucking.....then, her sister-in-law got my sis' son a cockatiel (?).....well, Annie used to stalk birds in the window, so there was some concern about how she would receive Cookie.......Cookie flew around the house, landed on Annie's back and started walking up and down on it.....Annie just stood there purring her little heart out....apparently, it was quite the wonderful massage! So, as long as Cookie would massage Annie, Cookie could ride around on her. We lost Annie before we lost Cookie, and Cookie actually mourned the loss of her buddy. As did we all. They both barely tolerated my brother-in-law, sis's hubby....he would NEVER dream of hurting an animal, but he had the worst luck with them.....the only time that either one of them would have anything to do with him was when he'd have popcorn....then here was Annie on one arm of the chair, and Cookie on the other......he'd feed Cookie popcorn, piece by piece, and Annie would just hook her own out of the bowl. As soon as it was gone...POOF!!!!, so were they! Growing up, we had Saints....and I had a 35 lb Dutch Checkerboard rabbit....sucker was huge!....but I'd put Babbitt in the outdoor run with Buffy, and they'd play together for hours! When they got pooped, they'd flop down next to each other until it was time to go again....first time they were out in the yard, one of the neighbors called cuz they thought Buffy was killing some poor little animal! It was a hoot to watch Babbitt chase Buffy all over the yard! Even when they were both outside the run, they both stayed in the yard......which I thought was strange for Babbitt.....but Buffy kept an eye on him. But each and every animal we ever owned was always a member of the family.....and mourned as such when it came time for them to leave us. Each time, we have vowed no more...yet we can't seem to help ourselves. The joy they bring us far outweighs the pain of their loss eventually.
