Now this is good imo!  After a few people were doing the kudo thang with the LEO's i could not reist a quick goog on it.
so here are a few myths:
1) “WE SERVE AND PROTECT”
2) “WE ARE A DETERENT TO CRIME”
3. “OUR JOB IS DANGEROUS, WE LAY OUR LIVES ON THE LINE EVERYDAY” This one goes beyond myth, this is a flat out lie. Police work is one of the safest jobs around. I know if I where a cop I would be real safe driving around with a M16, a 12 GA pump shotgun, a 45 ACP, a baton, pepper spray, restraint devices, a belt full of ammo and a small paramilitary gang to back me up in case of trouble. From 1970 to 1979 cops killed over 3,000 citizens many of whom were innocent people. Innocent people like Ishmiel Mena in Denver, Fenton Crookshank of Loveland, Dan Smith of Ft. Morgan the list goes on and on. The fact is cops kill 3 citizens for every cop that gets killed. The workmen’s compensation rate for police is a mere $5 per $100, the rate for electricians is about $45 per $100, and for carpenters it is $50 per $100. There is a reason for this. When a cop does get shot it’s because they shot themselves. In 1996, 45 cops died as result of gun accidents while on duty.

go go LEO,  i will keep my gun thank you very much!

I am not debating with what you have posted. You have a right to your opinions. I am just curious......if someone robs your house, or assaults you, who will you call?

Colt firearms
Only had one robbery/assault attempt so far in my life.
i dont call i reach for my 40 caliber delta and stuck it in his nose, sorta...  LOL
Was never bothered since.  i guess the word got out that i dont fuck around.

Cops are only good for after the fact, they are nice record keepers and tey jot things down pretty well, but there is nothing better than a nice big 40 caliber hole punch to change a perps mind.

When you respond to this, you'll be at post #3333 for yourself. Grats.

Police are evil bastards. You know they actually try to keep Chem students from getting their hands on materials to build high-yield explosives? Such things should be readily-availlable, unrestricted by governmental agency!

My late husband/Master was in law enforcement for just about 30 years, and while I respect your opinion, I do not agree with it.  Of course protecting yourself is foremost.  You'd be a fool not to.
I'm not going to revisit your rant here, but I couldn't in good conscience allow myself not to give my viewpoint.

might i suggest you use a dictionary next time you describe my post.

rant play_w("R0042100") (rnt)v. rant·ed, rant·ing, rants v.intr. To speak or write in a angry or violent manner; rave.v.tr. To utter or express with violence or extravagance: a dictator who ranted his vitriol onto a captive audience.n.1. Violent or extravagant speech or writing.2. A speech or piece of writing that incites anger or violence: "The vast majority [of teenagers logged onto the Internet] did not encounter recipes for pipe bombs or deranged rants about white supremacy" Daniel Okrent.3. Chiefly British Wild or uproarious merriment.

anyway i am sure your husband pre-emptively thwarted many crimes before or during the process of them going down.  He was obviously much better than several undred police we have here combined since it was all left up to me and my colt.    You would have gotten my respect had you not slammed my post by misdefined it with hyperbole.

bye

Well not the cops the next time...

Last time I was broken into I phoned the police and made a report, they asked me on the phone what the total estimated loss was. I told them that it was the computers that they stole... they said they would send a car out. but to make a list and fax it to a number.

That was the last I have ever heard or seen from a Police officer concerning that situation. so yea next time I wont call a cop... instead I will be pulling up video logs so I know who to hunt down.

as you have, in fact, incited some anger...i'm pretty sure it DOES qualify as a rant.  maybe not a good one though.  sound rather bitter to me...i'm thinking Owner59 has it close to the truth.

Your rant certainly seemed extravagant to me.  And it was certainly intended to create anger towards Police.  It did not seem based in fact either, no Police Office pretends they can prevent crime, they are not charged with preventing crime, they are Constitutionally prevented from preventing crime.  They can sometimes deter it (like I know I will get arrested if they have to come break up my music Jam for a 3rd week in a  row, So I am going to make sure we are softer next week, and do not piss off the new neighbor).  Also many jobs in the Police Dept are desk, dispatch, and investigation jobs that have no danger at all.  Also they have other funds that take care of thier expenses if hurt on the job,   and Unions help.  But the Officer coming up to my door has no idea if I am cooking Meth and there are guns aimed at his head or I am just some guy with a music party outside, too loud on a warm summer night.  I say cut em some slack.

I don't think calling it a rant is an exageration at all.  Extravagant falsehoods intended to create anger towards a very dificult, yet neccessarry job, that is the definition of a rant.

Stick a gun up their nose...  Hunt them down...  Ye Gods.  What the fuck do I pay taxes for???

Shall I go write speeding tickets and search the cars of the gang-bangers who think the streets around my house are a freeway bypass?  Harass the teen-ager on a bicycle selling bags of cheap weed two blocks over?  Barge in on the noisy party at 1 a.m.?  Shoot the neighors pit bull?

If I get home to find somebody has activated my furry theft-deterrent system, I want the cops to come pick up the pieces.  The way this neighborhood is going, I'm glad to pay somebody else to deal with the trash.

Ok but what are you going to do if you are working in the basement and you hear a sound like wood breaking and the next thing you know one of them is damn near on top of you?  Call the cop to save you?

Nope you are going ot reach for your iron just like i did or get trashed.  When the cop got here and found out the dood had a weapon he told me that i should have shot the fucker.  My response was that though it was intense i did not feel my life was in danger.  LOL

How about you prove they aren't....oh that's right I forgot, you don't need proof on your side, only innuendo and supposition.
