However, I'd hesitate to say he is one of the worst presidents. History was never my forte. I learned what I needed to to make it by. I believe President Bush has been a good president and unfortunately got stuck with a set of circumstances that had to be cleaned up because the prior administration swept it under the rug. PS - If President Bush is one of the worst presidents in history, then democracy must be systemically flawed - he was re-elected for a second term after we as an electorate got to see him in action. No confusion, no maybes or we will sees - America saw both president's Clinton and Bush in action in office - and hired him again. I'm a little "d" democrat - I am convinced democracy works in a systemically superior fashion to any other political system to date. Presidents Clinton, Reagan, GW Bush were all retained by the electorate for a second term - ergo, they were good presidents. Presidents like Carter and GH Bush were summarily dismissed - bad presidents.

That hardly follows, Faramir. Hitler was one of the worst leaders in human history, and a majority of Germans wanted him in power. The fact that most people would vote for someone is hardly a vindication of their ability, effectiveness, or fairness. Why do you think the Republicans bother with spin-doctors like Karl Rove? Precisely because they know that merely stating the truth is not the best way to garner votes. Besides, I am FAR from convinced that the United States had a fair election in 2004. Have you read anything about the issues? About 11-hour lines in known Democratic voting sections in Ohio?
