Ok, genuine question regarding the OP.
All stats are meaningless without a baseline to compare them with, i'm sure you're aware of this.  So, in that light, does the office of the President usually poll at the same level of popularity as Congress? If usually the President is four times as popular as Congress then the OP's stat shows a decline, if usually they poll at the same level then it is a gain. If we don't know, then the stat is meaningless and supports no position.

Just from memory, historically polls on the "popularity" of Congress are lower than those of the President, absent some issue or scandal involving the Presidency.

However "lower" has not gone this low for Congress - ever, as far as I can remember.

Polls are intersting creatures, and we can take too much from them, or twist them in a lot of ways (or they can be twisted in ways to present "proof" of a certain viewpoint).

I'd bet that the 14% approval rate for Congress is likely an all time low, however, and that is significant.

What that significance is, exactly, is certainly open to debate.

I will be forced to agree with this pseudo-intellect word for word.

That is as I remember it as well.

Fair enough statement.  Much better than simply unloading.

The difficulty with not unloading and with the discourse is that everyone else is playing it polarized, and I mean everybody..

Turns out the recruiting was about as I said, I just couldn't find a website to the contrary, by way of one example. Usually when the i-net or the media is in dearth of the rah-rah shit, you can be pretty sure it is a screen for deep-seated trouble.

LAM, other people have hearsay testimony, and thier own books.  Perhaps they are right, I haven't researched thot.  But tenet does not claim what you say he does.  The Article you cite, basically says that Tenet is a liar.

Well, to be precise, it says that Tenet says conflicting things AND that he is a liar.

I beg to disagree, I actually though Kerry was rather handsome, and I liked the way he talked. The fact that he speaks French made him even more endearing in my eyes, he he... The man's definitely a patrician: I think that's what could have played in his disfavour. He made the majority of the electorate feel inferior and inadequate.

A sure sign that many people have serious self-esteem issues and that they vote with their arseholes, not their heads .

I'm sure there was some of that, but I know that I didn't vote for him because he came across as a waffling, say-anything type. Gore had some of this, as well, and it doesn't scream "leadership".

Yes... and how much did the French care? Not one little bit  !

As for the fact that neither Kerry nor Gore's attitudes scream 'leadership', I think it's rather reassuring.

Anyhow, I didn't get to vote for anybody at all because I'm not American. And I was on the other side of the world both times, watching the whole proceedings in utter horror and disbelief. Now, I am here, and I STILL can't vote!

Makes me feel utterly despondent. But then again, maybe that's something to be enjoyed?

The French didn't care, nor should they have.

As for "reassuring", I personally don't find a lack of leadership reassuring.  Al has done much better since then, which is one reason I'd consider voting for him now. Kerry still acts like he is from IHOP.

I think a bit of wishy-washyness is reassuring in a potential president because it implies somebody who thinks a lot rather than somebody who acts out a lot (see: Baby Bush ;-p ). And fast actions can be terminally dangerous (see: Baby Bush again).

But I psychoanalyse things too much, apparently.

Glad you'll vote for Al if he is a candidate: will you put it down on paper for me  ?

Not to put too fine a point on it, but death by firing squad has been proven to be ten times more popular than death by hanging.

Any chance that waffling could be percieved in the fullness of time as a willingness to compromise and find solution?

as for a say-anything type, how do you see George on that?

Lev, the election of politicians is impression and spin only, nobody does the homework and you know how pretty princess girls turn into flat out worthless cunts when you get them home.

Eh, I'd rather "comtemplative" than "wishy-washy" lol... keep in mind, I said I'd consider voting for Al.

As regards John Kerry? No. Which isn't saying he is incapable of it, just that as of now, I see him as the ultimate parody of a politician. I admire his service in Vietnam and in the senate, but I don't want him as our President. You want a good example of someone willing to compromise, I'd point to Jimmy Carter, who had other issues, I guess.

as for a say-anything type, how do you see George on that?

He doesn't strike me as a say-anythinger, he is, however, suffering from tunnel-vision, a lack of flexibility, and some piss-poor advisors.

How can ANY congress get anything accomplished with a President that vetoes and uses signature statements at his whim and ignores the wishes of the people of America?

I agree with Murtha... he's demented.  This whole situation reminds me of Hitler in his last days fighting Russia.  "We will be VICTORIOUS"!!!  All that is left now is him bombing his own country as Hitler bombed Berlin " to keep the enemy from having it"

What is it going to take you die-hard republicans to wake UP!?

hey check out that 2005 bbc auschwitz vid, by lee someboby or another they interview nazi thugs and victims alike.   Even i was shocked at how exact it is coming down today by the numbers like it was scripted.   those who forget about history or are top political to see it will repeat it.
