winterlight -> to the moderators (7/22/2007 11:40:01 PM)

i am new here but i was wondering there are some really obnoxious people on here that have really made some nasty comments about others posts. Some people are quite insensitive in here.
Do they ever get kicked off of this site?

just wondering.. thanks very much!

winterlight, I know you are new here but, if this is about Ron (aka mnottertail)....you're just not understanding him (and that's ok, most people don't at first). His comments to me were not meant to be rude at all. Actually, if he didn't care he wouldn't have bothered to grace me with his post.

i am talking in general. i have noticed some really nasty stuff on the boards.

It depends how you define "nasty" Sometimes people view things that are not supportive of their posts as being harsh. There are very few occassions that I have seen truly "nasty" posts. I have seen many posts that have been taken the wrong way or where someone has not understood another posters sense of humour. That is always an issue on something like a forum where you cannot see facial expressions or hear the tone of voice.

HA!  Try some of the political boards on other sites!  This is tame as a puppy on morphine LOL

BitaTruble -> RE: to the moderators (7/23/2007 12:08:21 AM)

There are certain topics which bring out the worst in people. The political threads, anything having to do with religion (the recent Tammy Faye thread for example), pro-doms and a few others. They have been that way since the Internet began and well before because that's just how people are when they are passionate about a particular 'side'. I'd bet dollars to donuts that it's going to continue for a good long while until humans mature as a species.

The moderators do a great job of stepping in when they see the flames get a bit too intense and you have the tools available to you to censor anyone you desire via your block button.

i see this as a freedom of speech thing... it is very nice not to always be censored![image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m11.gif[/image]

CuriousLord -> RE: to the moderators (7/23/2007 1:21:49 AM)

Soo.. anyway, I was thinking.  President Bush would make a great Pro Dom since he's a smart Republican man who believes in Jesus, which automatically makes him better than everyone else.  Also, Bush is doing a great job against the terrorists, and the French are pretty decent people.  It's just a shame that poor people are allowed to vote, or people would've realized this stuff sooner.  Poor people are such a plague.. spreading their poor people germs all over the place..

Note:  The above is an example of something to run at the sight of, if you're not fond of the flames that often spark on CM.

Aileen68 -> RE: to the moderators (7/23/2007 4:32:25 AM)

Bluntness and disagreement of ideas isn't nasty.  It's life.
You're an adult.  You should be able to handle remarks from strangers that aren't kiss ass.  See?  Kind of like that?

Any poster that you don't like can be blocked by the little red hand at the bottom left of any of their posts.  You will no longer have to see any of their remarks unless they've been quoted by another.
Ron grows on you once you're able to decipher his words and realize that most of his advice is realistic.

RCdc -> RE: to the moderators (7/23/2007 5:39:07 AM)

Being obnoxious or nasty is all subjective - like someone being boring.  It takes time to get to 'know' the charachters of any written medium - be it a book or a message board.
If boards seem this way, then why participate?  Like life - you just have to suck it up - take what you want, discard the rest.

Big girl pants help.
This message board is tame compared to flame wars and name calling I've seen at other message boards.

GhitaAmati -> RE: to the moderators (7/23/2007 7:03:17 AM)

Curious...you needed to add something about weight in your post...maybe something about how its weird how america is the only country I know of where the poor people are fat....then you included all the typical flame topics...

And I am now going to hunt down the threads I missed yesterday to see what Rons done now...lol...

LetsGetReal1 -> RE: to the moderators (7/23/2007 7:09:42 AM)

The one's that make the nasty comments are the one's who get supported and those like yourself who complain often get booted if you complain to much. The moderators here have a warped logic as many of us know.

Nah! The mods only slam you if you dare to trade insults with one of their buddies. As long as you sit quietly and let the moderators pets flame to their hearts content, you are safe from the big mean mods.

Probably.  Just not under that user name.

Whether or not their comment is true is difficult to judge.  We are only exposed to the mods (and in a negative light) when they warn, moderate or ban us.  There is no way to determine if, or how much any particular mod may be skewed to one viewpoint or individual.

However, there is at least one constant poster who gets away with stuff that I find incredibly offensive and childish, yet never seems to get warned publicly, or get moderated.  It makes you wonder, but we have no way to know, so I give the mods the benefit of the doubt.

Very likely, that's one of our long time trolls, Sybil.

Is Sybil the one who's head spun around?
