When you do register where is the best place to start out in?
There are several things to do when you first join. You do a short tutorial when you start out. After that, they send you to a place you can practice those skills and get used to moving around. They just changed how they do the orientation about three weeks ago, so the people who have been on SL longer may not have been through the process you're going to do. After you're familiar with moving and ready to move on to the rest of second life, you have some choices. This will put it in your chat history. You open the chat history by pressing the History button on the upper row of buttons. Once the history is open you can click on the link. It will open a map. Press the teleport button on the map. This will take you to The Free Dove, which is a place to get free clothes, a couple of free hairstyles. (Once there, "stand still" for a few minutes for things to rez (load) before walking around.) To get the items, when you see a box you like, right click on it. There will be a pie menu and one of the slices says buy. Click it. Before you click the buy button on the window that comes up, read the amount of money they want you to buy it for.. it should say Buy for 0 Lindens from xyz. Everything in Free Dove is free, but you should get used to reading the money amount before you click buy. Some places will say free when you hover over something and then have a charge on the window that comes up. Free Dove does not ever do that. It is a safe and reputable place. Once you click buy, the item will be downloaded to your inventory. (Some items will offer to download to your inventory just by touching them. If that happens, just press yes and you don't have to go through the buy menu.) You find it by clicking the Inventory button in the lower right corner of your screen. Find the items name. Many of the items can be worn by right clicking the item and selecting "wear." Other items are in "boxes." Those you have to drag from your inventory and drop it on the floor. Right click on the box and select open from the right side of the pie menu. You can either copy to inventory or copy and wear.. your choice. After you open the box, right click on it and select take. This puts it back in your inventory. It is considered polite to clean up after yourself and not doing so can get you banned from an area. After you're done with Free Dove, copy http://slurl.com/secondlife/Vlaanderen/125/122/34 into your chat box and press enter, then click it to teleport to Vlaanderen Freebie Shop and get the free stuff there. That's a good start and you should find something you like at one of the two places. Then you can start to explore.

By the way, when something is scripted, it means that the item has actions of some type built into it. Hair by Taunt - Hair store. Stand still after you teleport for a few minutes to let things load then turn around. You will see a "tiki head" on the beach underneath the palm trees. Right click it and select buy for some free hair. There are several other tiki heads with free hair on the island. Vampyer Park - Lucky chair area- walk around the building and go inside. When one of the chairs has the same letter as your first name, right click on the chair and sit in it. It will give you a free item. There are lucky chairs all over SL. Some of the prizes are junk, some are nice.
