Colorado prof fired after 9-11 remarks
By DAN ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer 34 minutes ago

The University of Colorado's governing board on Tuesday fired a professor whose essay likening some Sept. 11 victims to a Nazi leader provoked national outrage and led to an investigation of research misconduct.

Ward Churchill vowed to sue, saying "New game, new game," after the Board of Regents' 8-1 vote was announced.

Let's hope his class isn't a requirement wherever he winds up...

It's an "only in America" kind of defense isn't it?  Hiding intellectual deceit and corruption behind hate-speech so you CAN'T get fired.

Hell, Rich, I hope he doesn't "end up" anywhere. He's a goof, and an embarrasment.

Hey Level,
Why do you feel this way?  Is it because of his plagarism or because of what he said about the 9/11 victims?

The article said, "School officials concluded Churchill couldn't be dismissed because he was exercising his First Amendment rights. But they launched the investigation into his research in other work."  What a coincidence.  The fact that he falsified research and plagarised others' work wasn't that big of a deal until after he said what he did about the 9/11 victims?  That investigation should have been launched as soon as those details came to light but it obviously wasn't that important.  Then he says something many people don't like and all of a sudden the investigation becomes necessary?  Smacks of censorship to me.

Of course, they aren't admitting those remarks are the impetus behind the witch-hunt - um, I mean - "investigation."  But it sure seems like convenient timing if they aren't.  Freedom of speech is for everyone, not just those who say things everyone likes.  And I'll bet you dollars to donuts that many of the same folks who vehemently defend that anorexic cunt Ann Coulter in what she said about the 9/11 victims' widows will want to see this guy's ticket get punched.  Wow - what a double standard.............luci

Good riddance.

It wasn`t the remarks that got him fired though(sounds a bit fishy). It was for other ethics violations. It`s doesn`t matter how it went down,he`s scum. He`s been called the "Ann Coulter" of the left.Although he`s only been called a lefty by the Fox news types, probably for their own purposes. He`s just a wacko, fuck`m.

Ok,so when does Ann Coulter get booted?A loaded question, knowing how beloved she is by republicans.

And by another coincidence, what he said about the 9/11 victims was no big deal for 4 years, until he got into it with the Bellecourt brothers over who was or wasn't a 'real Indian'.

Ahhhhh, Ward "TONTO" Churchill, one of my favorite people!
He's not only a liar, cheat, plagerist,  and art forger but  he also claimed affirmative action under the guise of being an American Indian!
Only thing is, when reporters checked with the Tribe he claimed as his own they'd never heard of him!
This guy is a TOTAL fraud and a wacko.
The only place he should end up at is a State mental hospital for a nice, long rest.
Give him one of those "I love me" sweaters.

What state agency pays Ann Coulter salary and Tenure?  To compare the 2 is not being realistic.  I am sure Ward will put out a NYTimes Best selling Contraversial book, and beging appearing on TV and such.  I am positive he will have a huge speaking tour.  He has not been silenced in anyway, Ironically he has gotten a huge amount of free publicity.

Not recieving State salary and Tenure is not the same as censorship, to pretend it is is an insult to the millions who have suffered actuall censorship.

Hey, here's another time I agree with popeye.

We need to stop doing this!

Good morning, luci,

I feel the way I do about Churchill primarily for his comments on 9/11, but if the other charges against him are true, that certainly doesn't help matters.

Calling the people in the Twin Towers "little Eichmans", in reference to the Nazi Adolph Eichman, and as "braying, self-importantly into their cell phones arranging power lunches and stock transactions."..... and the people inside the Pentagon as "military targets, pure and simple".......  there's going to be a backlash.

Freedom of speech is "for everyone", or should be, but that doesn't mean the  university has to employ him. He can still say what he wants, after all. I can't to to work today and answer the phone with "what do you want, jackass?"...though I often feel like it lol.

One thing we can agree on, is that there are those that would foam at the mouth in defense of Coulter, that are laughing at Churchill. I have very little use for either of them, to be honest.

Here's a link to a CNN transcript with him and Paula Zahn, for anyone wanting to take a peek:

Uh, BY DEFINITION, the Pentagon *IS* a military target.

Now, as far as his CLASS BASED CRITICISM of the people at the WTC, I think it's off target, as MANY of the people who died were from the same Slave-Class we all are in.

If he was employed in a private college, would his vile thoughts be any less reprehensible? Nope.
Okay....
Their common denominators?

Both wackos,(as in nuts)

both are plagiarist,

both are extremists,

both make-up stories ,and repeat them over and over,

both have Adam`s apples,

both have a pack of cool-aid drinking sheep, following them and buying their books(sorry,I`m wrong, churchill doesn`t have that,my mistake),

both are un-apologetic and only repeat their bile with more clarity,

both both have made a living out of being monsters.

I could go on......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XukNaP7H87o&mode=related&search=

and not for nothing, churhill only represents himself and his insanity, not the left or liberals. The left has had nothing to do w/ him.Coulter ,on the other hand,is a darling of the rightwing lunatic fringe, and Fox news.

Owner, the ACLU and Noam Chomsky, are both supporting him http://wardchurchill.net/blog/.  I consider them to both be "left", and to be active supporters of his.  Not all Democrats are "left wing" though.  Ward has over 10 books out, and a pack of kool aid drinking sheep (this would include anyone who agrees with Chomsky or the ACLU) reading them also.  I agree his thoughts are pretty reprehensible, yet I do not want him silenced.  I do agree that the taxpayers should not have to support him.

So owner do you also consider Chomsky to be a vile, reprehensible thinker?  He supports Ward "without reservation"....

Must be a pretty weak position that has to silence those who offend them...which side does that apply to?

I think that guys like Chomsky and Churchill should be working with picks and shovels.
They'd be more productive to the world.

They also supported Ollie North, when his constitutional rights were violated. They don`t agree with North`s brand of BS.They don`t even have to agree w/ North,to defend his rights.
The ACLU is also defending churchill`s constitutional rights.Again, the ACLU doesn`t do this b/c they like churchill. That`s irrelivant.

In both cases ,the ACLU defended a scumbag`s rights, not the scumbag. That`s b/c their agenda is deffending the constitution.Abviously, you would pick and chose which rights to enforce, and which people`s rights you`d protect, according to your bias. The ACLU doesn`t do that.It only seems that way, because of your bias.

It`s one of those things, that if it needs to be explained, you probably wouldn`t understand anyway.

This may help...

I like and support this quote. It`s very American,in it`s values.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

That`s what the ACLU is about.
