Liberals pressure Fox News advertisers

Liberal activists are stepping up their campaign against Fox News Channel by pressuring advertisers not to patronize the network.

MoveOn.org, the Campaign for America's Future and liberal blogs like DailyKos.com are asking thousands of supporters to monitor who is advertising on the network. Once a database is gathered, an organized phone-calling campaign will begin, said Jim Gilliam, vice president of media strategy for Brave New Films, a company that has made anti-Fox videos.

The groups have successfully pressured Democratic presidential candidates not to appear at any debate sponsored by Fox, and are also trying to get Home Depot Inc. to stop advertising there.

It is a proven method of trying to change programming.....I don't think it will be successful....They are too many people who watch FOX....Although I don't have the demographics of who watches Fox, I would guess that they are older white conservatives who might have some dollars to spend on the advertisers products....Fuck, if I was selling Depends or Viagra I might even advertise there.  Especially Viagra....It's easy to talk about family values when one is no longer to achieve an erection....Actually, that never really mattered to begin with....Say one thing and fuck another.  It's the American way!!!

     They want to go after the smaller, local advertisers according to the article I saw yesterday.  Hehehehe.  I see a rude awakening for the DailyKos phone team when they start calling places like the independent tire store in my town to complain they support Fox.  That bunch makes me look like a commie.

    I'm pretty sure local cable advertising is sold in blocks, rather by individual channel anyway.

This is how the far-left thinks... It's the same as the global warming debate. They are so convinced they are right that they don't believe there should even be a debate. They think the only thing debate does is trivialize the facts.

Its an amazingly elitist attitude that becomes insulting.... And this is why the far-left makes up such a small minority of Americans and why their radio programs constantly fail. They push everyone out who has a different opinion or idea and they make every attempt they can to silence those people. This is not how a society of free ideas is supposed to operate.

So that's what "Liberal "people do?
Doesn't sound like the "Liberal" people I know.
They must mean the "far left" if "Moveon.org" George Soro's bought and paid for group is involved in this.
I watch Fox News, I like O'Reilly though I don't agree with maybe 20% of what he talks about. And I love it when Michele Malkin "subs" for him! She's ***HOT***
But, I also watch CNN, MSNBC, and a few others as well.
If I were a business owner advertising with Fox and some far left group like Moveon called me up I'd just swear at them and hang up.
But, I'm also on Moveon's mailing list.[;)]

This is a senseless post.....How does Fox conduct a debate? Is the first question you should ask?

Remember the people who derive their news only form Fox proved to be the least knowledgeable when contrasted to others who received their "news" from other sources or more than one.

Secondly why does the majority of  "liberal" news fail where conservative talk flourishes? There has to be some significant difference between how the two are willing to be served up their news...It only makes sense....It is obvious that many conservatives have little interest in receiving views or the truth or news that put their personal beliefs to the test.,..they seem to obviously be comforted by programming that does nothing more but to reinforce their preconceived views beliefs and never requires anyone to have to question anything.

FOX news is clearly biased...There is no argument.  Now if someone feels they can point this out to sponsors and expect them to remove their support that it is up to them....Many programs have been effected in the past under the threats of boycotts etc.....I don't think it will work. Simply because advertisers probably find the viewers of Fox to be, demographically speaking, a pretty good base of buyers....Since they obviously don't exercise their ability to question what they read or hear....I think the consumers of FOX  News are truly an advertisers wet dream come true.

         Fox is one voice in the larger debate, DG.  MoveOn and DailyKos wish to alter/silence what that voice has to say.  If I thought there was any chance at all of something like this being anything but a chance for goofy extremists to feel 'cool,' I'd be calling the local advertisers to voice my support of their advertising decisions.

I tend to agree that it is all nonsensical....Perhaps it makes them feel like that they are accomplishing something....In all it is a complete waste of time and resources....Nothing is going to come of this.

There are those on the left and the right that are not willing (or able?) to give the other "side" any credence.
 
I started a thread a couple of weeks ago, asking for folks to give examples of books, or thoughts, or speakers, of the other side that they followed, or enjoyed, that they got something from.
 
The silence was deafening, except for one post by DomKen.
 
Sometimes, silence speaks volumes.

Level, I try to avoid the "far" Left and the "far" Right.
You know all this controversy over "Dog Fighting" and Michael Vick?
How's about some "Fundamentalist Fighting?
We could grab "Fundies" from both ends of the spectrum, throw them into the ring with machetes and watch them hack away at each other until only one was standing.
Make them wear t-shirts with either "R" or "L" on them and make book on them.
