I really don't see what you are seeing in those links, DG.  Embed journalists are subject to certain restrictions, Geraldo Rivera had his ass kicked right out of the country for violating them during the invasion for instance (he works for Fox, I might add).  The Times ran some footage that raised questions, but their status remained intact.

The Post article seemed to be discussing an entirely different massacre than the one covered by Yon (and nobody else as far as I've seen) where they were digging up the remains of beheaded ___'s.

Merc, yeah Fox better be careful or the next thing you know Moveon will sic Ward "TONTO" Churchill on them!

ooohhwwww! A  "scarwy consperwicy" coming  to get us.Oh ,Bill Oreilly,...save us!

Looks like cry-baby Bill Oreilly, has  the paranoid ,conspiracy theorists-whiners, lined up behind him.

Actually, "the people behind  Air America"(sounds so ominous, lol) is one person, owner Mark Green. He isn`t associated with the Daily Kos,other than being liberal(which is obviously a threat to Merc).

The only person on Air America I`ve heard mention this story,is Thom Hartman. The day the public heard that Oreilly was successful in killing the DK`s sponsorship,he said is was not a good idea, because it was cannibalistic, pointless, and harmful. This was before the DK members retaliated against Oreilly, before Oreilly and his supporters started crying over getting beat up in a fight they started.

BTW Merc, not everything is a conspiracy ,"com`n to get ya".

Like it or not, here are a lot of left wing people out there(scary,I know). They`re active and motivated, and connected by the Internet. They have skipped right over the media and it`s corporate agenda and Fox w/ it`s neo-con agenda. What seems to scare folks like yourself(and Oreilly),is this new form of pure democracy and free speech, the Internet message board.

There are message boards out there, that may suit your political world view. Why not spend more time  dealing in ideas and sorting things out by supporting those sites. And leave normal, regular freedom loving Americans, alone. You don`t have to be threatened by democracy and free speech.

Peace

I would guess he was being sarcastic, and that he meant Air America has had little to no impact on the public, as will the Fox Attackers.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Liberals go after Fox News advertisers (7/29/2007 10:06:39 AM)

And yet, Lowe's has pulled its advertising from O'Reilly's show...

Edited to add: You know, none of these horse's asses are journalists.  Someone was waxing poetic about the good old days of Walter Cronkite.  Walter Cronkite wasn't a fucking journalist.  He was a voice who read a script that other people prepared for him.  Real journalists are a dying breed.  They work for NEWSPAPERS, not for TV networks.  And newspapers are being whittled out of existence by their corporate owners, who purchased them as money-making machines, and, through savage cost-cutting, have impaired their capacity to engage in investigative journalism.  The future is bleak whether you're on the Right or the Left.  Right-wingers still use the "big bad liberal media" canard when it suits them, and yet even they have come to realize, through the Wall Street Journal fiasco, that independent journalism is about to go the way of the dingo.

Here it is...In war people die....It's a pretty simple concept....Yet in this war...It is ok as long as they are not Americans....no pictures of caskets...No close ups of American soldiers getting lit up....All sanitized nice and neat for the folks back home....What if the story reported doesn't jibe with the official report?.....I think you would be sent packing....It is food for thought and I do not feel that it can just be entirely discounted.

To much has happened to believe that there is not a orchestrated effort to portray what we read and see in a light that improves our position....Pat Tillman...etc.

Why shouldn't the story about the shia village getting attacked not be relevant...
http://www.denverpost.com/war/ci_6398851
it is in the same area if not possibly the same village as describes by Michael Yon....Why wasn't it mentioned by Michael Yon whether those massacred  were sunni or shiites?

I believe the story is a half truth....It stands to reason that there were other things at play that led to their demise, that did not benefit or embolden our reasons for war.....I think this only makes practical sense in what has transpired.

Sorry for the hijack.

True, Lam, but it'll take more than that to amount to much. And I have to wonder, how much of that case is O'Reilly's fault (some are blaming his comments about that UM that was abducted as being the cause of the Lowes decision), and how much is it an effect from the Fox Attackers?

Agreed....Very few even begin to possess the ability to question what they read and hear....Bill is a turd....He can be proven wrong time after time and the mindless hoards will keep listening because he is consistent and never challenges their core beliefs....This is what boils down as to the meaning of news to many.

True, Lordandmaster.

Oreilly "sewed the wind",and will "reap the whirlwind".He thought he was awfully clever with his rouse.Maybe "too clever by half".

This may not be the end.Neo-cons who are threatening to do the same in return, are forgetting that Oreilly started this in the 1st place, and is now paying a price. They`re forgetting that Oreill shot "his own self" in the foot, and really doesn`t want to lose the other good one, with more boycotts.

Peace

There's a potential can of worms....... seems the friendly-fire might have come from a much closer range than previously stated.

Sad, but true.

This is why viral news and blogging has become so accepted and ,need I say ,necessary for us to get a real grasp on world events.

Just blogging doesn`t get you street cred, though. One has  to earn that with integrity, fact checking, getting the story right, and being able to withstand scrutiny.Just like the news people of old, that we miss. That`s why Oreilly & whiners, have such a hard time with blogs like the Daily Kos.The Kos kicks there asses, lol, daily.

Not for nothing, I also used to think that the news/media had integrity and the publics interest at heart. And was down the middle and even handed.

That ended(about 15-20 years ago) when the neo-cons sold the idea, that the mainstream media had a far left bias and agenda. And, needed a "Fox News" type right wing outfit to counter the so called "left wing media."When 24/7 news channels took off,the partisan BS became 24/7.

This was also a time when politics was injected into neutral things, like medical issues(remember how Regan handled AIDS?).The separation of church and state was also attacked and weakened starting around that time, and continues.

TheHeretic -> RE: Liberals go after Fox News advertisers (7/29/2007 10:53:36 AM)

We really ought to wake that other thread, DG.

Considering that Yon lacks anything like the resources of the major media players, trying to bash his credibility for not covering every single event seems kind of lame.  His most recent dispatch finds him among the unit command posts and giving some interesting information about the use of small UAV's for recon and scouting.

Level, sure we will! "MOVEON! MOVEON! MOVEON!"
You know those phones they sell at the mall that have like 200 minutes on them?
They're not "tracable" are they?
Are they like one of those "throwaway" cameras?

Popeye, I advise all of you MoveOners to go to your least-liked relative's house, and make the calls from there. [8|]

Oreilly`s not really a journalist.

He`s a kind of preacher, preaching to the choir, and providing them with the "red meat" they`re hungry for.

And Oreilly delivers that, along with lesbian news, stripper news, sex scandal/sexually salacious news and sexual predator stories.

He`s no dummy.

Same as a lot of people...seeing something that catches my eye in the scrolling links.  I'm extremely tired of all the dead horses being beaten, though.  They stink to high heaven and the pulp they've become keeps splashing all over everything.

Hands you a plate of eggs.  Sorry about the dead horse in it.

smiles ever so sweetly and saunters out
