Luci, are you saying that if I pray to hit the lottery I won't win but if I pray for,......... "a lump of coal" I will win?

No.  That's not up to me.

I don't think I like that idea!

I can certainly see why

And, I don't think hitting the lottery is "amiss."

Ok.  I believe you.  See if He will...lol....

Better be careful what you ask for.  Lightning may strike...lol.....don't say I didn't warn you.

Now THAT sounds like a "Catholic" prayer!
They like to "suffer."

I don't know about that.  I don't think they all do, do they?  Anyway.....good luck on those lottery numbers and all.  I wish you much "luck" with that........luci

I don't know how many times I been in one kind of a scrape or another and wailing and remorseful cried out to god--------Oh, god!!!! Help me through this one, and I promise I will help myself through the next one---but it never works.

Ron

I'm sorry to hear that, Ron.  I honestly can not say the same.......luci

To win the loterry or be cured of a disease? Uh, no. To live in comfort within ones means (and be granted the occassional miracle that helps financially) and to live with acceptance an joy despite a painful disease? Guaranteed.

regarding the cured disease, then what's the point in it?

There is this thing called hope some say it was the cruelest of diseases to spring from Pandora’s Box. Preying helps the ones addicted to hope I feel.

The fact that you can see no point in prayer beyond the obvious is the reason why it will never work for you, and you will continue to both be miserable and unable to overcome problems that plague you emotionally.

It seems as though if prayer worked, the profession of physician would never have been created. Droughts would not happen in farming communities because the group prayers held there would generate rain. Limbs would regrow through undeniably miraculous processes, candlelight vigils held for missing children would always produce the children home alive and unharmed. The queen of England would be immortal thanks to the nationwide prayers of " God save the Queen! ".

The reason she isn't immortal is because I like many others just mime the words.

Personally I’m starting a petition to make the pink panther theme tune our new national anthem. Hopefully this will be in place before we win all those bronzes in the next Olympics.

when going out to a dinner (for whatever reason) i watch others to see just how many really are praying, who's just got their eyes closed or if there's someone else looking around. gave up on prayer a long time ago...when my son died.

Yes, it does.  The thing is though, we aren't promised an easy ride in this world.  There are a lot of sick people that will still tell you that prayers are answered every single day.  Not every person is going to get a cure, perhaps they will be give the strength to deal with the thing they have wrong.

I have had prayer work many times, but I believe that it goes hand in hand with faith.  I honestly believe that every prayer is answered, it just might not be the answer you are looking for.  God has His time for things and does know better than us.  Just because the answer was "no", doesn't mean it wasn't an answer.

It obviously works....God is a huge football fan who clearly favors one team over the other....Just watch the scoring athlete point to the heavens and pay tribute to the almighty for enabling him to scamper 40 yds unabated to the end zone.   The last few years God has not been a huge Packers fan....I've agreed to sart tithing in the hopes to sway the Lord's attention back to the plight of the green and gold.  In God and Farve we trust....We are truly screwed.
