Not for the first time do I find my line of thinking out of step with the mainstream bdsm community. It is always interesting, after avoiding the community for a while, to test the waters and see how people respond. Sadly, there is very little change in the past 15-20 years. Some of us are born to walk alone, with as little to do with community as possible. I'm one of them. Best wishes to all in their search. Thanks for the input.

How odd, I am very familiar with the community in the Ontario region, and though there are some extremists, they are pretty much from the old days as they say---I would have thought he would have no trouble finding someone up there.

That's going to depend entirely on your own personal definition of "mainstream" and "BDSM community". I could easily define the latter, for instance, as ranging from the het vanilla couple who like some kinky sex to keep things going, to the totally out-there edge players doing things that would make my toes curl if I even heard of it. Maybe you define it as only those card-carrying members of private play dungeons. If you're not finding what you want in the "mainstream", then stop looking there. Your post comes across though as a self-pity party condemning all the folks here as black and white (figuratively, not literally), when really the entire rainbow is represented. Self-righteous isolationism ain't attractive. I hope you are able to sort it all out somehow.

Thanks bear! Yours is a good question as well! Perhaps when those questions are answered, we can figure out what point the OP is trying to get across. From his journals, he seems pretty satisfied with CM, so i don't get this thread. Also, like Ron, i want to know what o.O is.
