Sorry OP, but there's really no need for three pages of posts (and my post makes 4) to answer this very simple question. Actually, poster #2 answered quite simply and succinctly. And someone else mentioned exercise. There's no secret to how to lose weight. The issue always is what are you willing to do in order to lose weight? Are you willing to eat smaller portions? Drink more water? Cut the concentrated sweets? Walk a little more rather than ride? Are you willing to make a commitment to your body and your health? If the answer is "yes," then get to it. If you're looking for a great comprehensive plan that really a kindergartner can follow, Weight Watchers may be the plan for you. And yes, it really does work for as long as you can work it.

Good luck!

here is what i do. But keep in mind what works for one person might not work for someone else. No fast food! No soda's! no processed food! Lots of water! and yes exercise.

(I was actually looking for a solution that didn't involve any of those 5 things....but thank you anyway).

There they go AGAIN with this eating less, walking more, shit!

WTF is UP with you people????

Are there no diets that include eating more, excercising less and using a TV clicker?????

Level actually has it right. I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes this last year, and I've been on a minimal carb diet since about March... I've lost 20 pounds so far, and I may even be able to get off my meds, if this keeps up.

The nice thing is, you really don't miss the carbs. (I thought I would, being a big fan of pasta) But now, I'm actually doing okay with it. The nice thing is, you can eat enough that you don't feel that you are denying yourself... it's actually quite comfortable.

Oh, and I bought a bike at a yard sale... That helps a lot. I take rides over my lunch hour, and it helps break up the day at work, gets me out in the air, and gives me a fair cardio workout for the day. (combined with sex at the end of the day would be even better, but my mate refuses to go for the "once a day" routine... sheesh.

Griswold, might I suggest taking a few times from The Truth About Food: How To Be Slim.  They have some great tips that have worked for some, and I plan on trying them as part of my resolutions!

Good job on the diet, bipolarber. You'll find the bike riding will likely help with your blood sugar a fair amount. as well.

I did Weight Watchers and lost 8lbs in two weeks without exercise.   Limiting calorie intake always works the first few weeks but you do reach the point where exercise will have to be added to get any more weight off.

I'm sure the fact that the restrooms are waaaay at the opposite end of the building from my desk and all that damn water had nothing to do with it.

I must say that I have been a diet guru many years... I  have gone all out, ate restrictive diets and worked out, usually I finally satisfy my cravings and take time off, gain some back, and something in my life happens to where I don't care anymore, and I fall off of the wagon, gaining it all back and then some... "Diets" don't work, you really need to just change the way you eat, and try and embrace that way of eating for the REST of your life... bottom line, smaller portions, 4- 5 smaller meals a day... I am going to be starting a new one, losing 9 lbs every 11 days... then eat normal for 3 days, and start over again... It is food combining and smaller portions... you go online for it, sign up, costs a total of 55 dollars, and you can make up your diets on the list they provide you.... lots of information about all the low fat, low carb diets... that explain why they just don't work.. good luck, and I am sure you'll find your knitch![sm=applause.gif]

Gris:

If you're serious, drop me a line on the other side.  If you're just having a good time, then knock yerself out.

By the way, I find it really humorous how many people think there is only one way that is right for everyone.  If that were true, weight loss would be easy.  In four pages of posts, you have gotten advice for low-fat (which is actually high sugar), low-carb, low-calorie, vegetarian, illegal drugs, and barfing.

Thank you ALL for this thread!  I've started today...South Beach Diet and promise, on my honor, never to bad-mouth Atkins again!!!

I appreciate not only the thread, but all the links.  Level, you rock!!!

Thank all of you for such GREAT information.  I've been sucked in, like the rest of the world, to believing fat, meat and sugar were bad, but potatoes, lots of vegetables (steamed, no butter of course) and plenty of fruit were GREAT!  <sigh>  I've been reading lots from the links left...and whoever left the one for http://www.fitday.com/:  THANK YOU...that place is GREAT for getting fast answers regarding different foods.
